{"sf1_id":1095137,"sf2_id":"V1Yz0J0e","title":"Full Moon Medication","author":"FakeMan","words":554,"posted_at":"2016-11-10T11:06:00.000Z","tags":["Anthro","Aperol","Beer","Bloody Mary","Bourbon","Mai Tai","Mead","Transformation","Werewolf","White russian","Wine","Wolf","absinthe","gin","roommate","rum"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1095137-full-moon-medication","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/V1Yz0J0e","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/b8/9c/b89cccd6-ab21-43bf-b28c-45489ac493ac","description":"#11 of Verse and Other Nonsense!\n\nJust because your roommate has a good reason to drink every full moon doesn't make it any less awkward.","content":"Full Moon Medication\n\nI have a drinking problem\n\nWhich is my roommate, Ben.\n\nHe's moping in the kitchen,\n\nFor the moon is up again.\n\nHe's brought down all the Jager\n\nAnd the boxiest of wine\n\nAnd a greenish cup of absinthe\n\nThat smells of turpentine.\n\nThere are mixers by the gallon\n\nSome combined with undue haste\n\nLike cream and bloody marys\n\nIn a bubbling pinkish paste.\n\nHe's said the tastes get different\n\nAs his tongue begins to change,\n\nSo he's laid out a full spectrum\n\nCarefully sorted and arranged.\n\nEven though the drapes are closed\n\nHis breathing starts to quicken.\n\nBelow his clothes his muscles strain,\n\nHis fingers start to thicken.\n\nOn the left side of the table\n\nHe starts with shaking hands,\n\nTaking shots of bourbon\n\nAs if caught with contraband.\n\nHis ears pull up and flicker\n\nAs he moves on towards the gin\n\nHis hair goes grey and thicker\n\nAs the changes all kick in.\n\nMeeting his eyes, I see the flames\n\nOf bloodlust \u0026nbsp;brewing there,\n\nQuickly doused with vodka\n\nWhich then coats his chest in hair.\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n\"I'm sorry, man\" He growls out\n\nAs he rips off his T-shirt.\n\nThe view's not bad, but this is not\n\nThe best of times to flirt.\n\nHe snaps his jaws and twists his neck\n\nWith bouts of feral rage\n\nKept quite at bay by his array:\n\nA fuming liquid cage.\n\nHe's left to tour the world:\n\nWhite Russians and Mai Tais,\n\nPlanning to get stumbling drunk,\n\nBloodlust unrealized.\n\nHis frame is growing larger,\n\nAnd his face is growing out.\n\nHuman features rearrange\n\nInto a lupine snout.\n\nHe's lapping up a dish of rum\n\nWith paws both on the table.\n\nIt's hard to drink beer like a wolf.\n\nI'm surprised he's even able.\n\nHis hulking form still grows,\n\nPanic turning into glee\n\nAs he downs a bowl of Aperol\n\nAnd then looks up to me.\n\n\"You're such a friend,\" he belches,\n\nSmile showing lethal fangs.\n\nHis breath could kill an elephant\n\nBut I hold back my harangue.\n\nAt least he's not a beast,\n\nEven though he grows a tail.\n\nHe's just an alcoholic\n\nAmply armed with tooth and nail.\n\nHe stumbles backwards on his feet\n\nThat raise up into paws.\n\nIt's a good thing there's no such thing\n\nAs werewolf drinking laws.\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nTo poison such a beast\n\nWould take a stunning feat indeed.\n\nI shake my head as he imbibes\n\nA final tun of mead.\n\n\"Now I'm okay.\" He smiles and waves\n\nAt the lamp next to me.\n\nHis arms reach out and pull me in,\n\nHugging most awkwardly.\n\nHe shifts his weight from paw to paw\n\nThe fumes all make me reel.\n\nI lead him to the bathroom,\n\nSo that he can break the seal.\n\nI turn the dial to comedy\n\nAnd sit down on the couch.\n\nHe joins me in a moment\n\nIn an alcoholic slouch.\n\nIf he were sober maybe then\n\nThere could then be something more,\n\nBut for now I'm just a tiny friend\n\nEnduring Pauly Shore.\n\nPerhaps some night I'll join him,\n\nAnd we'll both howl at the sky.\n\nBut I'm afraid of what would happen\n\nTo my liver if I try.\n\nI wonder if a doc could fix him up\n\nWith new prescription meds,\n\nOr what would happen if he switched\n\nTo smoking pot instead . . .\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Verse and Other Nonsense!","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/975660-of-dragons-and-accountants-text-only.json"}}
