Digging through my laptop I found some old poems I wrote during my senior year of high school. One of them compares me to transforming into a tiger. That's kinda yiffy I guess. These aren't "yay sunshine" poems either, I have never been a huge fan of humans and in one poem it shows. If you don't understand any of these that's fine, but if you get the T.S. Eliot reference in one of these I will be very happy.

Aubade of the Angel

Beneath me sleeping in beds of wood
Released from pain He understood
My task is clear still after time
In night or day I must always shine

Visitors those that are not yet slain
Leave gifts in hope of some peaceful gain
My concrete stance here is familiar
To them I give strength an unearthly pillar

My grave demeanor frightens them not
A soldier I am and that's what they got
The dawn folds like smoke over my wings
Shields from tears and bitters stings.

Metamorphosis

Rejecting this puppet I slither out
And prefer, instead, more appropriate skin
My puppet-self has no power to shout
But my other face I feel stronger in.

Enormous paws with my claws released
Fearsome eyes burn gold in my face
A visage of beauty and still the beast
Across my back, bands blacker than space.

A leap and I'm gone from this concrete hell
The leaves and grass here my pain soothe
Sunbeams to chase and sweet flowers to smell
Invisible to the demons this is my truth.

There are no mirrors here to scream their lies at me
A restless zephyr tumbles past ruffling my fur
Adam you fool, it's Eden as far as I can see
No threats or agony, I'm safe, of that I'm sure.

The demons' jealousy truly has no limits
Rising against me the globe's aberrant stain
But I have won, for long I won't have to submit
Then at dusk's beckoning, smiling, I slither out again.

Technologic

Light and shadows but mostly light
Crawl like blood through zinc plated hearts
And bring forth life
Or at most a fraud.

Slave to slaves immortal bound
To the transient
And the irony bites
At those who have retained their sight.

Evolution hovers just beyond vision
And questions about
the nature of
You and the nature of me
The newest model steps out of the forge.

Humans born from steel and light
Light that is a
shadow of the truth
But still we ask what should not be possible
Can androids dream of electric sheep?

The Pied Piper

A cold steel flute cuts through the gloom
Reaching with lyrical hands like iron bands
An unending sense of loss rolls quietly into the room
With hushed steps he slips in the avatar of doom,

All must follow the shadow clasped trail
His slow haunting song pulls away the pale throng
Their attempts to inhibit him, resist, all fail
In his wake survivors collect recover and wail,

To be such a scourge but a blessing is a feat
He's followed by kings and rats children and their cats
The landscape is purged of their blood and their heat
All thoughts have melted to music, the black angel's treat.

Boomerang

Roaring eagles with iron wings,
Shred the sky and leave wounded clouds,
Below they watch cold dirty glass,
Metal plastic ivory flesh shines in their faces,
No gold trim but grimy rags border them,
With Cain's blessing cry liberty and let loose the birds of war,
The second sin sits among the rubble,
This is the way the world ends.

The numbers spin and the only thing that rises,
Is the blood pressure of the vigilant,
Points and millions disappear dark thoughts replace them,
No one will say it but all think it,
Recession will not be denied a place,
Emerald cows are shoveled into the beast's maw,
The gold columns crack and we have no support,
This is the way the world ends.

Faceless drones in white coats,
Boil bubble brew in the name of science march on,
All problems can be fixed now,
Ask and all the pills you can pop are here,
Fear hate recklessness excuses flow like water,
Such a small it a living choice,
The mandatory has become an option,
This is the way the world ends.

Watch them run like rats in a maze,
Heirs of Eliot I can see right through,
Their blood crawls through dusty shells,
Their gold and silk can't hide the vacuum,
This is the way their world ends
This is the way your world ends
This is the way my world ends
Not with a sigh but a scream.

The Astronaut

Invisible frigid limbs twist and grasp
He rides the nonexistent wind
Here physics tries to enforce its power
Here all reality dissolves
Enter: Darkness, drop curtains, fade to black
And ivory bird trembles in the night's palace.

Soft eyes stare from all angles
Floating matches ever winking
Candle faces ever blinking
Luminescent prophets ever thinking
Shards of fire tightly sown in
They lurk in a heavy choking cloak.

Here is truth but not peace
So small you squirm
And for all the anguish
The universe marches forever onward
Full of splendor this is paradise
Full of nothing this is purgatory.

A mortal who wanders in the realm of gods
Here is immortality here is the unchanging
Here all is cold black and still
A relaxed sigh goes unheard
Vision darkens while enlightenment smothers
The jaws of eternity swallow.

"}
