The rhyme scheme is aabba, and while the amount of syllables for the lines vary, the third fourth lines are often much shorter than the others. The important part of the limerick is having the first, second, and fifth verses match a rhythm of \"ta ta tum.\" That's a bit harder to explain, so let's take an example:\n\nThere was a **jade** d young J **ack** from La **val** /\n\nStuck with **naught** but his **nib** in Nor **Cal** /\u0026nbsp;\n\nHere, JADE, JACK, and VAL are the \"ta ta tum,\" as they're the words on which the beat of the limerick lands. Similarly, NAUGHT, NIB, and CAL.\n\nAlso, an important part of a limerick is that it's \u0026nbsp;naughty in some way— but I doubt you'll find that here, as these poetry postings are nothing if not clean and family-friendly.\n\n* * *\n\n### The Swindle\n\nA Jack on the run with his partner in crime /\u0026nbsp;\n\nA doxy of moxie who's sly as he's spry /\n\nThough puckish and roguish and long past his prime /\n\nHe's adroit at deception, proven to pry /\n\nTod's a flibbertigibbet who does nothing but lie /\n\nHoled up in hiding after hatching a heist /\n\nThe plan had gone poorly, thus surly was Jack /\n\nCrew carelessly caught and most certainly iced /\n\nHe brooded, reviewed it, and thought, looking back /\n\nTod should've hastened to chasten, but cut Jack his slack /\n\nReflecting on Tod, Jack found him suspicious /\u0026nbsp;\n\nCould he have decided he'd much more to gain?\n\nThwarting their thieving seemed somewhat auspicious /\n\nCould he be the reason his mates had been slain?\n\nCould he have conceived of this legerdemain?\n\nThere was a knock at the door, and with cuffs he'd been boxed /\n\nJack cursed and he stumbled; out by Tod he'd been foxed /\n\nNow Tod's on the loose, and he's slicker than slime /\u0026nbsp;\n\nWhile his ex-partner Jack is stuck doing time.\n\n* * *\n\nLimericks are like foxes: enjoyable, easy, and fun to pass around.\n\nWait.\n\n* * *\n\n### Reciprocity\n\nSaid Jack to Tod, \"You know...\n\nI top for you a lot, and so,\n\nI could use a good dicking,\n\nYou deserve a good licking;\n\nSo my dear, would you care for a blow?\"\n\nSaid Tod to Jack, \"I think,\n\nThat I could be brought to the brink,\n\nSo get on your knees,\n\nOh, pretty please...\"\n\nAnd Tod had out his cock in a blink.\u0026nbsp;\n\nWhile Jack's muzzle licked its way down,\n\nJack's paws started going to town;\n\nTod gave him the 'biz,\n\nAnd soon he did jiz,\n\nSo Jack swallowed and grinned like a clown.","series":{"name":"Old/Archive","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1109231-pris-ner-tod-free-samples.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1111400-snow-in-july-the-train.json"}}
