As penance, I'll be posting the second chapter of Death of the Actor shortly after this goes up.\n\nThe opposite of an iamb is a trochee, in which one places the stress on the first syllable, while the second syllable remains unstressed. Used in conjunction with iambs, it's possible to create a poem in which you have a \"call\" and a \"response,\" so as to distinguish voices via rhythm.\u0026nbsp;\n\n* * *\n\n### The Bickering Couplet\n\nTod dear, should you ask wherefore I love thee—\n\nDear Jack, I know no words would leave your mouth.\n\nNeedless cruelties caused this rift betwixt us—\n\nAnd empty pleasures sought do widen it.\n\nMany times I've said \"you are for me,\" dear—\n\nWho is this \"you?\" Why don't you bring him home?\n\nSince my mouth is void of love for you, dear—\n\nPerhaps I'll fill it then with my own love.\n\nMMPH mmph MMPH mmph MMPH mmph MMPH mmph MMPH mmph—\n\nMy darling Jack, oh please, do watch your tongue.\n\n* * *\n\nSome would say that you can't validly write a verse of trochaic pentameter using only the sound \"mmph.\" I would say that the late and great French poet Arthur Rimbaud wrote on the diseased, decomposing, syphilitic anus of a prostitute in _Vénus Anadyomène,_ so thus, anything is valid in poetry: especially filth.\n\n* * *\n\n### Degradation\n\nYour words are hot wax /\n\nLightly burning my muzzle /\n\nI should be punished.\n\n### Suspension\n\nHeld aloft by straps /\n\nI gravitate towards you /\n\nThere is no escape.\n\n### Tongue\n\nYour tongue flicks quickly /\n\nDown my neck, my chest, my thighs /\n\nTo the tip of me.\n\n### Ears\n\nA scratch of the ear /\n\nOft an innocent gesture /\n\nYet it drives me wild.\n\n* * *\n\n-Charles Michael Averin","series":{"name":"Old/Archive","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1115408-tireless-tiger-your-darkest-hour.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1118354-arg-equal-cruising.json"}}
