I think to myself.\n\nI look to my left and to my right but there is no one there.\n\nWhere is everyone\n\nThere's people nowhere.\n\nI take the mask and put it on my face\n\nand the suddenly I see everything as bright as day.\n\nThe world looks so beautiful through this strange mask.\n\nAll the people seem so happy.\n\nI feel myself so light.\n\nIt's like I'm floating free.\n\nBut wait a minute now.\n\nThis is not the world that is real.\n\nThe real world is such a raw deal.\n\nShould I keep the mask on\n\nor look reality in the eyes?\n\nI take the mask off and look at the world once more.\n\nthis place is filled with blood and gore.\n\nSwiftly, I put the mask back on\n\nand all the pain is gone.\n\nI keep walking with the mask on.\n\nBut I can't help to wonder\n\nAre we really so insecure\n\nthat we must seal ourselves from reality\n\nand all its fatality.\n\nCan't we see each other or ourselves\n\nwithout mask on our faces.\n\nCan't we love each other\n\nand find happiness in things that truly matter\n\nor don't we just bother.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"stuff and stuff","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1070923-the-dark-tower-of-life.json"}}
