Each breath

he exhaled turned to a foggy smoke that poured out of his muzzle as he

slammed back first into buildings side. His heart thumped heavily in

his chest as he looked into the doorway, his M1 grasped hard in his

paws as he turned into the doorway. Running full speed, he entered the

small room. His boots thumping softly on the concrete floor. His

partner turned and nodded as the husky slid onto his knees up to an

open window, his rifle in it's ready possition on the windows sill.

The husky looked out across the frozen road, at the upturned car that

was buried into a snow drift. This fight had completely drained him.

He was running on empty, less like a living breathing creature, more

like a machine. Just taking aim, firing, and reloading as seemingly

unending amounts of the pirates seemed to come into light in the

windows, streets, and doorways that he could see. He felt nothing, no

pain, no sorrow, no nothing. Being awake for so long without any rest

in sight had made him just something repeating a task.

Bullets wizzed by him, cracking into the building and sending small

pieces of shrapnel flying into the air. The husky looked over to his

partner as he fired out of the window he was stationed at.

"Where they at Sean?"

"Everywhere pick a spot and shoot!"

The German shepard yelled as he fired three rounds across the street

and into the darkness resulting in a scream of pain.

The husky nodded and began to fire at the overturned car, causing a

blur of black fur to run out and back towards the oppostie bulding.

Firing into the furs back, he sent the retreating party face first

into the snow, small trails of blood running into the white snow,

turning the pure white into a mix of red and brown.

The shooting seemed to cease for the time being, the loud gunfire gave

way to quiet peacefullness. The husky slid down against the wall as he

closed his eyes, his breath fogging with every exhale. His mind went

back to the way this all started, the way the ones in this room were

the only ones who made it, and if help didn't come soon, they wouldn't

make it either.

It was two days ago when James' squad was sent to recon the small town

in search of supplies and resources. He had a small squad of ten good

soldiers under his command, all of whom he treated like his brother.

Being firm yet compassionate, tough but caring. They had entered the

town at around noon and made their way down the center of the street.

They had just come to the middle of town as the husky ordered his

troops to fan out and search the buildings. He stood, as a rod of iron

in the street while the troops spread out, many entering the

boardering buildings and some heading down the street.

He watched as one of the wolfs on his squad stopped and looked towards

a tall three story building, his short breaths sending small clouds of

fog into the air. He nodded at the wolf just as a loud, sharp crack

was heard. To the huskys widened eyes, he watched as the wolf, who had

just been standing and a perfectly functioning being, collapsed into

the snow with a thud, crimson red blood pouring from his chest and

onto the snow.

The only thing he remembered at that moment was crying out a loud,

long no as his squad took cover in the nearbye buildings. He just

stood in the center of the road, unable to speak, unable to move as

the shepard ran out and grabbed the husky dragging him into a nearbye

house.

He watched as each member of his squad was killed, each one of his

brothers. Each time he saw a life snuffed out, a little bit of his

soul was to, until now he was just a shell.

A loud whimper brought him back to the current day, the current

situation that demanded his attention. He looked accross the room to

the far wall, to the wounded soldier laying against it. The wolf lay

in a puddle of his own blood, most of which had frozen to the concrete

around his stomach. He lowered his head for a moment as the wolfs

whimpers pierced his ears. He shouldered his weapon as the sound of

footsteps entered the room.

Standing up he slowly walked towards the door as he motioned for Sean

to stay. He exited the small room, his gun at the ready as he came

into another small room. Scanning the corners he continued on.

Lowering his rifle slightly, he walked through another doorway and

almost plowed right over the dingo. Scrambling to his feet, the

surprised husky lifted his rifle pointing down at the dingo who was

still recovering from getting knocked off his feet.

"What...who are you!" James stammered out as his arms shook from

nervousness.

Tyson laid on his back, arms raised. "Its Tyson, UCDC"

James let out a large sigh of relief an lowered his rifle. Leaning

down he lowered his paw for the dingo. Taking it with his, Tyson was

lifted up to his feet. He immediatly began to take a mental inventory

of the husky. He was just about the same height as the dingo yet he

was more broad. Where Tyson had a sleek toned body, the husky seemed

to have the physique of a burly brawled type that seemed more like a

shoot first ask questions later kind of guy. Kaizoe and Chris entered

the building, the fox never straying too far from the tigers six. The

husky looked past the dingo to the other two.

"They with you?"

Tyson nodded.

"Alright, let's get you up to date."

Tyson could tell that this fur didn't care about all the things that

the dingo had done for the coalition, to be honest, he liked not being

the center of attention wherever he went. He enjoyed being just

another gunney.

The husky led them back to the room where the shepard and the wolf

were held up in. As James entered Sean stood up pointing to the dark

side of the room, making sure to be clear of the window.

"They have us zeroed so stay in the shadows."

James led Tyson past the wolf who was now whimpering only softly as

his breaths slowed more and more. Tyson could tell that he wasn't

going to make it. Kaizoe was the next to enter and he instantly glared

at the shepard as he walked to the dingo's side. Chris had stopped at

the wolfs side and was knelt down on one knee, his paw on the wolfs

side feeling every breath that was taken, each one was a fight for the

wolf. Tyson immediatly knew that this was what Chris needed as he

looked over his shoulder at the two.

"So you two are our support? Well I don't need to tell you that we are

royaly fucked out here and it seems like this is our Alamo." the husky

sighed as he looked over at Sean. "My entire squad... Picked off like

flies. We are the only three left, and if you three hadn't come we

wouldn't stand much chance. And by the looks of you, we dont have much

of one anyway."

Tyson returned to looking into the huskys eyes. He could see the tears

and emotions that were being held back through the sparkling crystal

blue orbs. "Do you know how many there are left out there?"

The husky shook his head, "No they just keep coming, they never stop."

Tyson nodded and left the room, heading to the stairway at the far end

of the room, he started to climb up the three flights of stairs, his

rifle slung over his shoulder. Coming to the roof, he slowly stepped

out onto the snow covered roof and dropped to his knees. Getting down

on his stomach he slowly crawled to the edge of the building, his body

leaving a trail in the snow as he took the rifle off his back and set

the foregrip on the sill o the roof.

--------

Chris stared down on the wolf as his breaths started to slow and

became more and more of a struggle for him. Every breath produced a

sharp pain that made the wolfs entire body shake under the fox's paw.

James slowly walked over and squatted down next to the fox. Putting

his large paw on the small shoulder of the fox and looked down at him

as the wolf took a last, deep breath and gave up his ghost.

Chris looked up at the husky, a tear in his eye as he took his hand

off the wolfs side. James sighed and looked down at his fallen

commrade. Yet another one of his brothers was gone and yet another

part of his soul died as he tried his hardest to keep his emotions

inside. He took his paw and gently placed it over the wolfs eyes,

closing them slowly and looking back at the fox. He could tell the fox

was taking this hard, just by the way he held his head, he showed that

he never saw anything like this, nor did he ever want to again.

"It will be okay. Just try not to let it get to you."

Chris sniffled as the husky stood up and walked back to his window,

taking up position with his rifle. The sharp crack of Tyson's rifle

echoed throughout the area as the furs in the first level of the

building took their possitions in the wall. Kaizoe had his machine gun

at the ready as the sound of diesel engines roared through the area.

The tiger knew what those sounds ment. More enemys, and lots of them.

The pirates poured out of the trucks and into the buildings that lined

the road accross from the small squad. They had them severely

outnumbered and outgunned. Even if the rumor that Tyson was here was

true, they had the high possability of just leveling the town with

sheer numbers.

------------------------

Tyson notticed the amount of trucks rolling in, and despite his

ability to be a great shot, he couldn't keep up with the amount. They

were going through his crosshairs before he could get a shot off.

Rolling onto his back, he ejected the clip from the rifle. His mind

was racing. There are just to many, we will never make it. His mind

was going a mile a minute as he heard the firing coming from below

him. He knew the only way to win this one was to call in help.

The fighting in the lower level was just as fierce as bullets whipped

by the team. Many of the lethat projectiles grazed or just barely

missed the three combatants as they huddled under there respective

windows. The sheperd looked over at James and nodded. He had had

enough of being shot at. The worn army uniform that covered his brown

and black fur clanked with the sound of metal hitting metal as he

stood from his huddled position. Time seemed to slow around Sean as he

shouldered his M16 and began to squeeze out rounds. It seemed to James

and Kaizoe that the scene was like that from a movie, the snarl on the

muzzle of the large shepherd as his rifle seemed to shoot out each

bullet in an almost beauty that only a soldier would appreciate. The

gas operated weapon threw out a small puff of mist that wrapped into a

contrail behind the speeding projectial, almost causing a curtail

effect. The ordeal lasted not long but what seemed like forever as

enemy after enemy fell before the firepower was unleashed upon the

sheperd. The graceful movie came to a crashing end as a set of rounds

hit the sheperd. The first hit him square in the chest and went right

through, a small trail of his life giving blood the fell gently onto

the floor. Two more of the deadly rounds tore through his body, each

one making a small hole in the front and back of his brown jacket but

they did there damage. The sheperd slowly fell to his knees, a shocked

look on his face as his arms fell to his side, the rifle falling next

to him.

The huskys heart sank to the farthest region of his body a he saw the

canine fall. In one smooth motion he lept to his feet and caught his

commrade. The sheperd was gasping as he clutched his chest. Blood

began to run down the fallen canine's back and down the husky's grey arm,

coating the fur with thick, warm blood as James clutched the shepherd in his arms.

With the last bit ofenergy he had left, the shepherd leaned up and wrapped his arms

around the husky. Tears slowly ran down the husky's face as the shepherd took his final

breaths and died in his arms.

That was it, the final piece of his heart had been torn as he laid his fallen commrade on the

concrete floor. Reaching next to the bleeding out shepherd, he picked up the canines gun

and tucked it under his shoulder. Taking his own gun and doing the same, he approached the

blown-out wall on the side of the building. With tears rolling down his face he stood, as a

gladiator poised before a lion, both guns in tucked in between his arms and his sides. The

weight of the rifles made his aim falter slightly as he stepped upon the fallen debris. Being

mindful of the exposed re-bar, he began to squeeze both triggers, sending shocks of recoil

through his body as he sprayed the entire adjacent area with bullets. he managed to hit and

wound several faceless enemies before the rounds started to tear through his flesh.

The first round that hit tore through the fleshy part of his thigh sending the husky down on

one knee, still firing the two weapons. The next projectile found its mark in his shoulder,

ripping through the skin resulting in a yelp as the huskys entire body jerked to the side, his

paw involuntarily letting go of the automatic rifle allowing it to fall to the concrete and slide

a few feet away. Regaining his composure, James emptied his clip and threw the gun to the

floor beside him and drew out his pistol. It was a standard black, military grade pistol that

fifteen rounds plus one in the chamber. More of a last ditch effort than a primary fighting

weapon. James emptied the gun in a matter of moments as the final shot tore directly though

his heart, stopping it immediatly and sending the husky toppling over onto the floor, blood

quickly pooling under his lifeless body. Even though now even the last of the scout team was

killed, the husky had peace with the deamons that had sapped his soul for the past few days

left him with that final shot. The miliseconds that it took for the bullet to go from piercing his

skin to the moment it hit his heart, he had complete peace.

Kaizoe ran from his cover and grabbed the husky by his collar and while struggling, pulled the

fallen canine into the cover of the room before holding his paw up to the sall communicator

in his ear.

-------------------------

Tyson reloded his rifle as he heard Kaizoe's voice echo through his ears.

"Tys. Our two friends are down. We need to either bug out or call in some heavy firepower. "

The dingo agreed fully as he looked over the battlefield below. he knew that at these

numbers, the three of them reaining would have no chance at all. he had to call in an

airstrike of some type and he had to do it fast. Rolling on his back he reached down and took

the handheld radio off his belt.

"Outpost 375 come in, this is Tyson."

"Tyson this is outpost 375 what can we do for you?"

"We need close air support at our location."

"Tyson, we have two A-10's in your vacinity returningfrom a sortie, we will redirect them."

The dingo copied as he hunkered down repeating what he heard to Kaizoe and Chris down

below. It didnt take long before the low roar of the two jets could be heard over the horizon.

The monster birds had dual engines at the tail that looked like giant tappered steel drums,

but unlike what they looked like, the engines brought the two aircraft into a screeming line

that flew at what seemed like a few feet over the ground. the two aircraft got one right

behind the other as they approached the combat zone. pulling up slightly the lead aircraft

started his run. The large Vulcan cannon on the nose of the aircraft roared unlike any weapon

Tyson had ever heard as it scattered thousands upon thousands of rounds across the

battlefield. Penetrating all forms of cover possible, cars, barriers, and even the buildings.

the second dropped a pair of incindiary bombs that caught fire to anything within a hundred

feet from the impact.

When the aircraft had passed the outpost could hear Tysons cheers over the comm-link and could tell the support was a success.

The dingo returned to where he had left the tiger and the fox.

--------------------------------------------------

Chris shivered in the tigers burely arms as the shockwaves from the bombings passed. He was

scared out of his mind and the only thing that kept comfort was the grasp of the large tiger.

As the noise slowly stopped, chris turned his gaze onto the fallen husky as a tear fell down

his face. Kaizoe had never had to deal with someone like this before, yet somehow he knew

what to do and slowly began to scratch the foxes ear. As Chris looked up at him with teary

eyes, he began to stutter out soething before Tyson came bounding through the door.

Stopping in the doorway he chuckled at the sight he saw. His muscular demolitions expert

cuddlimg amd consoling this rookie.

Tyson just chuckled as he looked at Kaizoe and called for a transport truck from base.
