{"sf1_id":1153105,"sf2_id":"dmBJDXAm","title":"Ashen Echoes","author":"TheMadmanwithaScarf","words":361,"posted_at":"2017-03-03T04:14:00.000Z","tags":["Ashen","Echoes"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1153105-ashen-echoes","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/dmBJDXAm","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/cb/65/cb656add-233b-44ac-9192-6c33f141aae6","description":"#4 of Journey of the Shadow Archive","content":"The Darkness howled in echoing shade.\n\nIt crept and slithered down spines with its icy touch.\n\nIts hands trace down the warm with its frosted fingers,\n\nLike winter snakes trying to find their way of salvation.\n\nThe Darkness woefully washed in the wells into waste.\n\nThe cries of children wailed for their parents.\n\nTheir parents trekked away to find water away from the wasted wells.\n\nThe madness screamed and cried in the minds of the children,\n\nIt prattled and it rattled,\n\nIt danced in their fragile glass minds,\n\nIn glass minds of the children of those whom called themselves humanity.\n\nFour flared phoenixes burnt into cinder as they watched the children.\n\nThey flapped their fingers, then they passed to sorrowful ash.\n\nThe crucified Christ covered the cross on the valley of ashes.\n\nThe glistening ashes of the phoenixes.\n\nCrucified in hopes to bring back the wells from woefulness.\n\nA sacrifice to possibly appease the heavenly gods above,\n\nBut, this only brought tears of madness that seeped through reality.\n\nMore madness and sorrow to the mortals bellow.\n\nThe mortal tears that sparked enmity.\n\nEnmity that made the children of humanity snarl and bite.\n\nTo act primitive over the woeful wells their parents had sought.\n\nTheir disparity and dissimilarities that caused them to hurl blame at one another.\n\nThen the blame became stones, then stones to swords, then swords to guns.\n\nThey raged war on the ashes.\n\nThrough the chattering of guns they will fade,\n\nLike an ill wind of death,\n\nThey laid waste to each other.\n\nThen, once the skies were streak with ash and blood,\n\nAnd the bitter snow blanketed the dead.\n\nThe dead over the ashes of the phoenixes.\n\nThe only thing that stayed standing was the cross.\n\nThe crucified cross that held the Christ.\n\nThen, the parents returned.\n\nAnd they cried.\n\nThey cried and cried.\n\nThey cried in anguish and in woe to see that they had left their children to die.\n\nThere were broken hearts, and woeful tears,\n\nDead bodies that had been laid to waste on ashes.\n\nChildren claimed by death,\n\nLike trophies among a collector.\n\nTheir souls in death's arms,\n\nTheir bodies laid on ashen soil.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Journey of the Shadow Archive","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1142537-reignite-chapter-one.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1153107-deathly-night.json"}}
