War is a terrible thing. Inspired in part by Lance Rund.

### War Drums

"Quick, come with me, child" /

A whisper and paw in paw /

Made still by stray shots /

Drums of war are beaten fast /

Beaten with fresh children's bones /

"Either them or us" /

A warrant shouted unheard /

Made truth on numb ears /

Drums of war are beaten hard /

Beaten with young soldiers' bones /

"We can't leave our home" /

A rage burning deep inside /

Made to fill caskets /

Drums of war are beaten loud /

Beaten with old native bones /

"They are ours to take" /

A spoil of war, nothing more /

Made to be playthings /

Drums of war are beaten now /

Beaten with new victims' bones /

Ever-grinding wheel /

Fateless one unproviding /

Bone meal flour rations /

Endlessly marching to death /

To the beating of the dead.
