He woke up with a heavy sigh, the plain white ceiling he was staring up at alarmed him. The cell didn't have that texture, where was? The memories came flooding back, memories his dam of bad dreams tried to keep from remembering. “No escape from the horehounds on your tail!\" He muttered. He was in a house, maybe it could even become a home. As Adam readjusted to the real world a smell hit him. A sweet, homely, familiar smell. _Bacon and eggs._ “Farm boy food!\" Adam heaved himself out of bed, the pain in his ankle less biting now and more nipping, just like the old litter. He hobbled out into the kitchen where the smells originated from. Two skillets, frying diligently. The aroma a sweet symphony, and there before them was the conductor. A regular Amadeus of the quick, easy and greasy breakfast food. “Morning!\" Adam said, still groggy. The pair were in bed at ten, asleep by one.\n\n \n\n“Good morning, Siiiiir!\" Gavin said with a shit eating grin, or perhaps more accurately a cum eating one given what the pair got up to last night. He scooped a hearty helping of bacon and eggs onto the plate, setting it on the table for Adam. The shepherd sat down at the table, cracking a smile as he looked down at the plate.\n\n \n\n“Yanno, my old man....I mean old owner. He used to call this right here the heartbeat of a good farm!\" He said, gesturing to the plate.\n\n \n\n“You grew up on a farm?\" Gavin asked, grabbing his own plate and sitting opposite him. “Was it the whole nine? Wide open fields? Tractors and cows and shit?\" Adam nodded.\n\n \n\n“Straight out of TV!\"\n\n \n\n“Well that just means you're a clone used to harvest organs for your original copy!\"\n\n \n\n“What?!\" Adam laughed.\n\n \n\n“What? You've never seen the Island? About the clones and shit?\" Gavin asked, still shoving food into his mouth as he spoke. Mama Langford would've smacked Adam upside the head if he did that at Gavin's age.\n\n \n\n“I haven't seen too many movies recently!\" Adam said with a shrug. Gavin stood up, taking his now empty plate to the sink to wash it off, Adam had still barely started on his breakfast.\n\n \n\n“Oh...well you haven't missed much.\" Gavin said, “but if you want to catch up on the few things you did miss...\" Adam could feel his tail thumping against the legs of the chair, he was wagging like a damned puppy.\n\n \n\n“Yeah...I'd like that!\" Gavin smiled back at his Master.\n\n \n\n“Anyways! I need to get going to classes, so I'll see you tonight?\" Adam nodded. Gavin leaned in and kissed him on his head.\n\n \n\n“Need me to do anything while you're gone?\"\n\n \n\n“Besides keep that ankle elevated? No!\" Gavin said, blowing Adam an extra kiss as he made his way towards the door, stopping a moment. “Oh, and don't shed!\"\n\n \n\n“I'm gonna smack you later for that one, boy!\" Adam said, taking a bit of bacon. Gavin winked.\n\n \n\n“I look forward to it, Sir!\" His human said before rushing out the door, leaving Adam alone, without a task. Adam finished his bacon and eggs alone in silence, or at least it seemed to be that. Adam was never _alone_ with his thoughts, nor were they particularly silent. _This is weird._ Adam had never been one to sit still, nor one to not have some sort of project to work on. _I guess we could call recovery a project._ He stood up, easily able to walk on his injured angle with little issue. _Project done!_ He hobbled into the living room, collapsing onto the couch with a sigh. _I guess I could catch up on pop culture. When's the last time I even gave a shit about pop culture?_\n\n \n\n \n\n“See, this? This right here is the backbone of the farm!\" _I was seventeen. It was Elias' last summer here before he went off to college._ Dad was praising mom's cooking back and forth like he did every morning. At least we called it morning, it was four thirty, maybe five in the morning, but farmboys like me and Elias. We didn't wait for the sun to rise to wake up.\n\n \n\n“I can't say I'll miss this when I go off to college!\" Elias said as we were ploughing the fields, the early morning sun had started to crack overhead beaming down that honey sweet Georgia heat on us. At least it was honey sweet when Mom put out the iced tea, and Dad snuck us each a beer after a hard days work. Right now though? Right now, fuck the sun! Elias had already taken his shirt off, sweat glistening down his body. It's summer days that I envied him for not having fur, I was panting like mad.\n\n \n\n“You....better....come....back....for....Christmas!\" I panted out, the sweat dripping through my pads making it hard to keep a grip on the hoe.\n\n \n\n“Of course I am, you idiot!\" He said, ruffling my head with his soil caked hand.\n\n \n\n“Good....I'll....need.....to.....show off....my coat!\" I said with a grin. He flicked me on the ear and laughed.\n\n \n\n“I'll miss you man.\" He said, doing that classic Elias thing where he stopped working to stare into the distance like he was some kind of male model. Then again I hear the jump from football to modeling isn't a hard one so maybe he will be in time.\n\n \n\n“I wish I could come with you...\"\n\n \n\n“Yeah....but we both know you're too damned smart for college!\" I cracked a grin at that. We both knew it was a lie, like how he had told me I was too damned smart for high school, and for middle school. It seems I was too damned smart for anything besides a basic education to ensure I could read and count. I wish I was smart enough not to fall into the comforting embrace of the lie. “Besides, when I'm a star running back for the Falcons, I'm gonna need one bad ass body guard watching my back!\"\n\n \n\n“_Yeah, you most defiantly are._\"\n\n \n\n \n\nAdam had spent a few hours drifting in and out through network TV, music video channels, and premium cable before he came to his conclusion. _Pop culture sucks!_ He continued to flip through the channels, giving each their allotted thirty seconds to impress him before he moved on. All but the sports channels, those got a flip the second he realized what they were. He couldn't risk it. He didn't want to see Ellias' smiling face, his model girlfriend, his spiels about being a good ol' American boy. _Or maybe he never went pro, or maybe I'll find a story about how he broke his neck and is a quadriplegic._ His lips curled into a smile at that thought and it made him shudder. “_Get this fucking animal in a cage!\"_ Maybe he was just an animal, a stupid primal beast fueled by stupid primal emotions. Primal emotions like joy and anger. Anger at seeing Elias succeed; joy at seeing him suffer. Adam couldn't decide which scared him more.\n\n \n\nSo the sports channels didn't get a chance to impress him, he flipped right on by them, working his way past them, then past them again in HD before he reached the retro channels. Reruns of sitcoms who's actors were mostly dead by now for people who didn't know how to use a DVD player. It was some old black and white sitcom about a bumbling farm owner and his clever fox servant who bailed him out of trouble all the time. Adam sat there watching them for hours, disgusted by enthralled. Everything was so simple; every 'problem' some sort of adventure. Oh no we ate all the pies meant for the county fair, now we have to bake replacements. Oh no the fox servant became a rock and roll star and forgot his friends on the farm; easy problems with convenient wrenches thrown in just in time for the commercial break and a nice resolution that returns everything to status quo before it's thirty minutes are up.\n\n \n\n“Well shucks Lee, I don't know how we're gonna pay off the bank!\" The farmer nervously vented to to the fox regarding their dwindling finances and the bank looming to foreclose.\n\n \n\n“Now don't you worry Mistah Baker, I know know know we gun thinka sumthin!\" The fox said back to his Master. Adam tuned out there, he didn't care about how they'd solve their neatly packed problem of the week this time. _Maybe they'll trick the bank to extending the grace period. Maybe Lee will do a benefit concert. Maybe they'll find the fucking Treasure of Death Valley._ He sighed. Real life didn't work like that, when the banks came knocking to buy the farm real people didn't pull up by their bootstraps and find a way to make it work, they cashed in. _After all, they had to help their only son through college._\n\n \n\n \n\n“_What? You can't mean?\" Mom and Dad had told me they were selling the farm, all assets included._ At first I didn't understand the grim looks on their faces when they broke this news. They were getting old, and frankly I was getting sick at waking up at four in the morning. Then the looks they were giving me started to sink in, the word 'assets' ringing in head over and over.\n\n \n\n“Son, I'm sorry....\" Dad started, he couldn't even look me in the eyes as he told me this, his gaze focused on the floral pattern table cloth we'd had at the kitchen table since Elias and I were kids. _Or since he was a kid, and I was a pup._ “...but the Mulders, they're good people! Got a whole pack of dogs just like you! No more working solo....\"\n\n \n\n“Wha-what about Elias?! Call him! He'd tell you not do this!\" I begged, I pleaded. Mom and Dad never really took me to church like they had Elias, looking back now I realize that there was a lot of things they never took me to, but right now I was screaming up to God to hear my prayers.\n\n \n\n“Son....\" I wonder if he meant son as in 'child of mine,' or son as in 'boy' “...Elias said that he understood our position.\"\n\n \n\n“Dad...\"\n\n \n\n“He's sad it had to come to this....we all are, but you gotta understand....We need the money...\" I wanted to scream, I wanted to cry and flip the dinner table, tear my claws into that stupid fucking floral pattern, I wanted to ravage this entire house like the animal they thought I was, but I steeled my self. With quivering lip I looked up, right in his eyes.\n\n \n\n“_I understand Mister Langford.\"_\n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n“_I understand Mistah Baker!\"_ Adam hadn't even realized he'd sat through six whole episodes of the show lost in his thoughts. In that time his eyes had picked up all the zany adventures of Mister Baker and Lee. They had managed to pay off the farm when they found out that the old bust in the living room, one they had called 'Ol Angry face!' was in fact a priceless piece of art, worth twice the farm easily. The kicker? They even got to keep the damned thing in the house, with the art dealer saying that it “Fit in too well with the home, it would be a destruction of art!\" in his snooty voice that sounded like an American trying a posh British accent.\n\n \n\nDespite his perceived disdain for the show, Adam kept watching, going through more adventures of Lee and Mister Baker! He wondered what became of the fox who played Lee, was he able to buy his freedom? Did he run away when the chance arose? Was he shoved back into a cell after each filming? Adam almost didn't want to get the answers. _Curiosity killed the cat after all. But you're a dog. And as such I have a lot less lives than our feline friends._ He didn't even hear the door open, lost in these dumb idyllic adventures.\n\n \n\n_“_Wow, you are one lazy dog!\" Gavin teased as he walked into the apartment, backpack strapped securely on, a shopping bag in his hands. Adam nearly jumped out of his skin.\n\n \n\n“Jesus, you scared me!\" Gavin laughed, as he walked through the door, pulling his prize out of the shopping bag.\n\n \n\n“So check out what I got!\" He said with an excited, sing song voice. It was a collar, a simple black one made of cheap hemp weaves. Adam blinked, almost not believing the object held in Gavin's hands.\n\n \n\n“I...uh, didn't think you were the type to collar people!\" He said, his throat bubbling with a nervous disposition that he tried to hide. The dim fire of finally holding some agency in his life fading by the millisecond that seemed to stretch on for an eternity.\n\n \n\n“It's for me, you dork!\" Gavin said with a grin, clasping the collar around his own neck with a wink. Adam breathed a huge sigh of relief, letting the fire burn in him once again, bright and proud.\n\n \n\n“There's only one problem, boy!\" Adam said with a hint of a growl that curled Gavin's toes.\n\n \n\n“And what's that, Sir?\"\n\n \n\n“You're still wearing clothes!\" Gavin was quick to oblige his Master's request, stripping to nothing but the collar around his neck. Adam beckoned him with a finger, telling his slave to follow him as he sat back on the couch, instructing Gavin to kneel at his foot paws as he went back to watching TV. “Rub!\" No sooner were the words a wisp on his lips did he feel Gavin's skilled hands obliging. The human's soft hands hitting every rough spot, spots that Adam forgot he could feel a soft tickle in. He growled appreciatively towards his talented human, feeling those slim, soft fingers rub between his toes. “You forgot a leash, you know!\" Adam half teased.\n\n \n\n“I'll pick it up next time, Sir!\" Gavin said with a grin and an excited glint in his eyes. Adam grunted and pushed Gavin down onto his back with his paw.\n\n \n\n“And what are you going to do to make up for it this time, hmm?\" Adam ran his footpaw over Gavin's face, letting those damp pads glaze over the boy's skin. “Lick!\" Gavin was quick to obey once more, gliding his tongue over the slightly damp paw pads. Adam growled contently as he felt his boy work his tongue along his toes. He pushed his paw harder into the boy's face, rubbing his pads over him as he licked. “Next one!\" Adam said, and the cycle began anew. Gavin running his tongue along a new set of toes, pads just as damp. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Adam ground his footpaw in Gavin's face a bit more, making sure to leave a nice helping of pheromones marking the boy as his. Adam then reached down and grabbed the collar, gently pulling Gavin up onto his nude lap, his cock erect and excited, much like Gavin's.\n\n \n\n“Stroke!\" Adam growled, letting himself drift into deep, happy thoughts as he felt those slim, soft fingers slide over the pink flesh of his cock. Gavin continued to let his fingers dance over his canine companions cock for a bit, the soft tips stroking over his shaft and slit, Adam feeling the hot seed rolling in his loins. Eventually Gavin got tired of just stroking and without a word of command from Adam, wrapped his lips around the head of the dog's cock, taking in the red rocket for docking into port mouth. Adam leaned his head back, letting his tongue loll out as he felt his skilled human servant and friend work his cock. Those thin, perfectly maintained lips rolling down his shaft, that slim tongue lapping across the head of his cock. Adam let himself drift into happy thoughts. It had been days since he first met Gavin and they had clicked near instantly. Their moves seemed mirrored with perfection, flowing like two oceans together. Flowing like the fruit of Adam's loins were as he felt the human working his tongue over the slit of his cock, lapping away at his master hungrily. Adam could feel his endorphins building as he slipped back into more happy thoughts, deep into those happy thoughts. Happy thoughts; about the people he loved, and the people he thought loved him. About the people he thought would never leave him, he held the collar on Gavin tight as he felt tears start to streak down his face. Will he stay with him? Will he someday be gone? Someday.\n\n \n\n_Someday._\n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n“_Someday we're gonna get out of this shit town!_\" Alex told me, smoke leaking out of his nose as a cigarette held firm between his lapine lips. I loved the look of him here on this balcony, like an old time gumshoe. Wrapped in a borrowed trench coat to fight of the cold as he enjoyed his two cigarettes between clients.\n\n \n\n“And just where are YOU getting money?\" I teased, neither of us had what you could call _paying_ jobs. He flicked some ash off the balcony, grinning as he told me.\n\n \n\n“Tips!\" He said. I laughed.\n\n \n\n“That's not exactly smiled upon to be given money.\n\n \n\n“They're not giving me money!\" He took a long drag of his cigarette, letting the smoke hang in his lungs. He always loved to tease like this, draw things out so that the anticipation sits in your stomach like an ulcer, burning through you. “They're giving me 'pretty pictures' that just happens to be money!\" I nodded, knowing the kind of people Alex had to entertain that would fall for the 'pretty pictures' spiel, I hope they paid well.\n\n \n\n“And what would we do?\" I asked. He shrugged.\n\n \n\n“I dunno, steal a car, hire one of the nearby homeless guys to play our owner!\" He said, taking another drag of the cigarette. He was right in one aspect, it wouldn't be too hard to find a homeless human, offer them cash, food, and a place to sleep in exchange for being our mouth piece.\n\n \n\n“Then we just drive?\"\n\n \n\n“We just drive. Go as far as we can, find some place far away from here and all _this!_\" I nodded. It wasn't exactly the best laid plans of lapines and canines but it worked well enough for me! I watched him finish his cigarette, flicking the butt of it down onto the ground below us.\n\n \n\n“Well, back to work!\" I waited a few minutes more after watching him go, getting a chance to stare at that cottontail ass of his, my tongue gliding across my lips. He was too tired after 'work' to ever really do anything besides sleep, but hey every dog has his day. And I was about to have one fucker of a day. I stayed outside a bit, letting the cool breeze flow through my fur, the faint smell of Alex and his cheap cigarettes hanging in the air. Far be it for Mister Jeremy to provide anything resembling quality for us.\n\n \n\nWhen I heard the shout I jumped into action, I didn't even register it as Alex's yell at first, I just did my job. Our sort of shop can attract some less than savory types of people. People who think just because they bought an hour they can do whatever they want with us, laws be damned. That's where I came in, a big farm boy of a dog to scare off the creeps and killers who figure “Noone would miss the cat whore!\" Or “The fox boy was asking for it!\" It was the one part I didn't hate about my job, tossing out scum who came in here in big cars with tainted windows, wads of cash and thick alcohol smelling breathe. My ears twitched as I ran forward, down the twisting red halls, ignoring all the moans I heard. Real and fake that continued on despite, or for some maybe because of the screams. My eyes weren't even processing any of the sights I took in, I just followed my ears towards the screams, I didn't even notice the wall I had hit at first, not even processing the idea of a physical obstacle.\n\n \n\nMoose was, as the unimaginative name suggests, a moose. An absolute mountain of meat, the kind of security raised in this place since birth. Dim witted, unquestioningly loyal. He was likely one of Mister Jeremy's favorites, and now he was standing in my way arms crossed like he had seen his Master do so many times.\n\n \n\n“Get out of my way!\" I spat at him, not even sure I could be heard over the screams, and the moans; oh fuck the moans! Moose remained unmoving. “Moose!\" I shouted.\n\n \n\n“Boss man says this door stays closed!\" He droned on, I'm surprised he even knew what a door was.\n\n \n\n“Jesus, don't you hear the screams?!\" I pleaded. Moose remained unmoving.\n\n \n\n“Boss man, said!\" His arms stayed crossed and tried to leer down at me. A cheap imitation of Mister Jeremy, a child mimicking his father. I barely even remember what happened next, it seems like someone else did it. I broke Moose's jaw, a quick punch right into his chin as he was droning on about what 'Boss man said.' Then Alex, Alex in tears. I don't even remember what the client was doing to him, all I remembered that I lunged at him ready to kill the fucker, then...nothing. Just a void, a few voices, and a sharp pain in my leg. The voice of Mister Jeremy apologizing to the sick bastard, rambling on and on about how this is a 'respectable establishment!' Promises of free sessions, refunds, free drinks at the bar and the like. No regard for Alex, no regard for Moose. I woke up later in a cell with busted ankle. _Every dog has his day!_\n\n \n\n \n\n_“Well every dog has his day Mistah Baker!\"_\n\n \n\n_“But Lee, you're a fox!\"_\n\n \n\n“You ok?\" Gavin's voice was a ripple in the stillness of the void that was Adam's thoughts, a lifeboat thrown to him to yank him out of those dark place he keeps retreating too.\n\n \n\n“Yeah!\" Adam said, absently. He was still underwater, lungs filling with that dark black water.\n\n \n\n“Right, you're just tearing up because this show is so moving.\" Gavin added sarcastically, despite the trace amounts of precum tracing his lips his voice carried weight. A biting weight that Adam normally thought was reserved for the jaws of an animal like him. He felt the tears start to well up again.\n\n \n\n_“Mistah Baker!\"_\n\n \n\n_“Mister Langford.\"_\n\n \n\nGavin said no words as he wrapped his arms around him, the rare time he would take a role over Adam, holding him tight like a father to a lost child, or a master to a beloved pet. “When you need to talk, I'm here!\" Gavin said. The words were a warm hearth in Adam's soul, a melting away of the snowy death he was lost in. Maybe Gavin truly cared, maybe he would stay. Maybe this could work.\n\n \n\n“...Well you see, I had....I have, this friend....A rabbit.\""}
