(Cover art and thumbnail credit: Kenket)","content":"_Hiding:_\n\n  \n\nUp the stairs he went,\n\nbright, orange tail stiff and eyes alert,\n\nhis hackles were raised,\n\nready for anything.\n\n  \n\nThe floorboards creaked\n\nunderneath the weight of his powerful paws\n\nas he walked deftly and quietly\n\nbaring his claws, he was prepared\n\nfor his assailant to leap out at any moment.\n\n  \n\nHis enemy's scent\n\nhad settled over the musky odor\n\nof the old house\n\nbecoming a sweet aura\n\nover the dark, damp smells of the house.\n\n  \n\nHe crested the staircase,\n\nturning directly to the left,\n\nthe scent was stronger there.\n\n  \n\nHe crept slowly, cautiously across the hall,\n\nlooking around every few seconds,\n\nshe was not in the hall.\n\n  \n\nStill cautious he tried the doors,\n\neach green entrance stood out \n\nfrom the wooden brown of the wallpaper,\n\nthey were all locked.\n\n  \n\nWondering how she had tricked him like this\n\nhe turned around tail wagging slightly\n\nthe thrill of the chase had gotten to him now.\n\nHe set his eyes on an old servant's room door.\n\nHe had found her.\n\n  \n\nHe walked carefully towards the door, \n\ntrying not to cause too much noise\n\nas he approached her hiding place.\n\n  \n\nHis black paw wrapped around the golden doorknob\n\nturning it slowly,\n\nthe old door groaned as it swung open.\n\n  \n\nAt a quick glance he saw no sign of the fox he was after.\n\nThen he saw her auburn tail dipped in white,\n\npoking out from behind a curtain,\n\nhe heard a stifled playful laugh.\n\n\"I've found you.\" he called.\n\n  \n\n-Kiah Z.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poems","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1179558-the-husky-s-dilemna.json"}}
