I'm finding poems are a bit like doodling for me...\nThis is a poem about a husky getting his life together.\n(Cover and thumbnail credit: Kenket)","content":"The Husky's Dilemma\n\n  \n\nThe television blared loudly,\n\nThe only interruption was the sound of ice,\n\nClinking in a glass of whiskey.\n\n  \n\nThe husky grasped the drink\n\nIn one paw he held the liquor,\n\nIn the other the television remote.\n\n  \n\nHe was not watching the TV,\n\nIntently as he usually did,\n\nHis blue eyes instead fixed on his drink.\n\n  \n\nHis black ears barely taking in,\n\nThe noise of the television program,\n\nHe didn't even know what he was watching.\n\n  \n\nThe dog took a sip of his drink,\n\nLetting the burning sensation on his throat linger,\n\nBut only for a moment\n\n  \n\nHe yawned,\n\nLeaning back in his chair,\n\nHis seat protested under his weight.\n\n  \n\n\"It's exhausting.\" the husky thought.\n\n\"To do the same damn routine,\"\n\n\"Every day\"\n\n  \n\nGet home, whiskey, TV\n\nGet home, whiskey, TV\n\nGet home, whiskey, TV\n\n  \n\nSometimes if the canine was feeling bold,\n\nHe'd do his routine out of order,\n\nJust to shake things up a bit.\n\n  \n  \n\nThe blue-eyed dog wanted more than his apartment,\n\nHe wanted to come home to someone,\n\nSomeone who loved him.\n\n  \n\nHe longed for more than whiskey,\n\nMaybe a home cooked meal, followed by a kiss,\n\nThen maybe something more after that.\n\n  \n\nThe canine's tail,\n\nBlack and white,\n\nSagged on his seat.\n\n  \n\nHe didn't want TV as his companion,\n\nHe wanted a real person he could be with,\n\nA real person he could love.\n\n  \n\nThe husky took a long sip of his drink,\n\nHe finished the last of it with a successful gulp,\n\nHis throat burned.\n\n  \n\nHe gazed around at the mess,\n\n\"This is what I call home?\" he asked himself.\n\n\"Time to clean up.\" He thought.\n\n  \n\nThe chair groaned,\n\nAs the husky got up,\n\nSetting his empty glass and remote next to a pile of laundry.\n\n  \n\nHe started the long, agonizing process of cleaning,\n\nWith each item he picked up,\n\nHe felt his confidence soar a little higher.\n\n  \n\nEach clink of glass became a song,\n\nAnd he listened to the beat,\n\nHe was dancing with the prettiest girl.\n\n  \n\nA few hours later,\n\nHis home was the home of someone else entirely,\n\nHe knew he had a chance.\n\nHe washed up,\n\nAfter brushing his fur,\n\nHe stepped out a new man.\n\n  \n\nHe put on his nicest clothes,\n\nThen turned towards the front door.\n\n\"I can do this.\" He said to himself aloud.\n\n  \n\nHe briefly turned around,\n\nHis eyes focused,\n\nOn the unfinished bottle of whiskey he had bought yesterday.\n\n  \n\nIt would be so easy to avoid all the pain,\n\nAll the commitment of a relationship,\n\nWith just a few more drinks.\n\n  \n\nThe husky hesitated,\n\nHis white paw resting on the doorknob,\n\nHe thought hard.\n\n  \n\nWith a swish of his tail and a smile,\n\nHe emerged outside his apartment.\n\nHe knew in his heart it was worth it.\n\n  \n\n\"I will find someone.\"\n\n\"I will find someone.\"\n\n\"I will find someone.\"\n\n  \n-Kiah Z.  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poems","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1179377-hiding.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1241581-scene-from-a-forest.json"}}
