I intended to put it up at yiffstar, but I wrote to charm a dragon instead. This story needs work, and I'll probably fix it up at a later date and re-post it. It only took me three hours to write. So don't expect it to be up to the same standards as my previous posts.

Trouble is not the Trouble out of 'to charm a dragon'.

BTW this is a singular story. I will not put it into a series.

Dragonrider (heh heh)

Marco sat down with a sigh of relief, pulling off his shirt and throwing it to the side. He discarded his weapons with another sigh of relief.

By right, the lake was his. That was the law around these parts. If you found something of worth out in the forest, then you could lay claim to it.

The lake was almost perfectly round, the only break in the circumference being where a little stream fed into it from the mountains to the east. The water bubbled over rocks farther up the stream, creating a pleasant, if a little loud, sound. The water in the lake didn't overflow anywhere, so Marco thought that it must have emptied into an underground stream. H wasn't about to try and find it, he had only found an underground stream once, and was sucked into it. He had been under water for more than two minutes, and emerged on the other side of a small mountain. He still awoke in a cold sweat sometimes afters having nightmares of tumbling down endless, bubble-filled tunnels, struggling for air.

He stood up, took of the rest of his clothes except for his underclothes, and dived into the lake.

It was surprisingly warm, considering a stream fed it from the mountains. It should have been as cold as ice. He forgot about the waters temperature, and just enjoyed floating in the water, forgetting about the past few days.

He had been on the run, and had been travelling for weeks without stopping, sleeping in the saddle, trying to find somewhere where his name wasn't known and the guards didn't try to kill him on sight.

He thought that he could probably live out here, right next to this lake, where few humans dared to tread.

The reason everything out here was free, was because there was literally no one out here. The only people who came out here were outlaws, and people who either wanted to die, or try and steal from the ghosts. The ghosts were the reason that no one lived out here. They destroyed anything that the humans put up. They never killed anyone, unless the humans killed one of them, then they would kill a man for every drop of blood spilled from a ghost, or something like that.

People just fond it easier to leave this part of the world alone.

Marco stopped floating around, and swan over to his stuff. He would have to get busy if he wanted to make a shelter before nightfall.

He found a nice spot nearby, a cave. It wasn't all that big, about the same size as a normal house, all up. It was honeycombed with passages and tunnels, joining together in little room-like spheres. He found one near the very back, as far as he could tell, and set up his 'home' in it. He just laid out his travel blankets in a small depression, to make a crude bed, which he would later improve with grass and reeds, and leant his sword against one of the 'walls'. That was his home. He would have to make it better. But he intended to be out here for a long time.

He then went outside, and turned his horse free. He should have shot her, and then smoked her meat, but he couldn't bring himself to do it, the horse had become too much a friend to him on the long journey for him to kill her.

He then went hunting, using his bow. It was a pretty powerful weapon. It had been given to him, and he was unable to find a superior bow anywhere. It was a recurve short bow, but he couldn't even pull it back halfway, and he wasn't exactly weak either. But even then, the arrow could bury itself in a tree almost a quarter up the shaft.

He was mainly hunting deer, or birds, because his arrows weren't really suited to taking down things with tough hides.

He took a deer only a few hundred metres from the lake, after spooking a herd of them.

He took the carcass back to the lake, and then found the biggest leaves he could. He then bound them together using string from a certain type of bark. He then wrapped the deer in the leaves, and buried it in the coals of a massive fire he had prepared earlier. He worked quickly, because predators would smell the food, and maybe decide to take it from him by force.

When it was almost dark, he dug up the carcass, and dragged it back to the caves, taking it to a room he had decided would be the fire room. It was perfect for his purpose, it had a wide crack in the ceiling, leading all the way to the top of the mountain, which would draw off the smoke, but the crack was slanted enough that it wouldn't allow water in when it rained. It was just off his 'home'. There was a corridor leading straight to it, with his 'home' down the smallest tunnel to the left, and the fire room at the end of the main one. It made sort of a T shape.

He was huffing and puffing, dragging the heavy carcass into the fire room so he could smoke the meat, looking into the passages as he went. He looked into his 'home', noted the truly gorgeous red dragoness stretched out luxuriously on his bed, and a strange smell in the air, like the scent of flowers, only stronger, and which was oddly arousing, and continued on. He had already moved far enough that he couldn't see his 'home' anymore, when he realised what he had seen.

He did a singularly violent double take, snapping his neck to the left so fast he was surprised his neck didn't break. This left him staring at the wall, so he leant backwards as far as he could, his head just protruding around the 'doorway'. There was nothing there.

He shivered, and kept walking. He was starting to see things. Maybe he was getting sick. He was only seventeen, so he couldn't be going senile. He shook his head to clear it, and told himself firmly that he hadn't seen anything, and that anything he had seen was merely a figment of his imagination. But he didn't look left or right until he got to the fire room either.

He couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched, so he crept back to his 'home', and grabbed his sword, almost afraid to look at the bed. But there was nothing there. He walked over to it, and saw that the bed was ruffled, as if something had lain on it. He shivered again, telling himself that he was just imagining things, and that he must have just stepped on the blankets and messed them up himself. Yes, that was it. He had stepped on the bed, he was sure of it.

But he still slept in the fire room, sitting against the wall on the other side of the fire from the entrance, twitching awake from dreams filled with a flowery scent and something that was always just ahead of him, the sun shining off red scales drawing him closer.

\\* \\* \\*

He awoke feeling rotten. He had barely slept, afraid to open his eyes in case he saw the spectral dragoness again, and afraid to keep them closed because that would leave him completely unprotected.

He grabbed some of the meat he had cooked the night before, and started outside with it to the lake, so he could wash away his weariness in the water.

 Ssssccccrrrriiiittttcccchhhhh.

Marco almost jumped out of his skin. The sound had been so close. He was still in the cave, at the point just before he could see into his 'home'. It had sounded like it had come from there too.

He drew his sword as the sound came again, sending shivers down his spine. It sounded like something dragging its claws over the stone in his 'home'.

He spun into his 'home', expecting to see a wolf or coyote, or a bear at least, but what he saw was completely unexpected.

Nothing.

Nothing at all.

Nothing to explain the sounds coming from that very area only a few moments before.

He shivered yet again. He sheathed his sword, wondering if someone had followed him all the way from the last town.

He continued outside, completely spooked. He wanted to just run away from this horrible place, and whatever it was that was around here. Maybe the cave was haunted.

That thought sent him running back to the cave, and grabbing everything he had put in there, and dragging it out to the lake. He then began to set up traps.

He made several cunning traps, employing all his skill in every one. He made giant snares that would be able to trip a bear, pits, which he was exceptionally good at hiding, with soft dirt at the bottom instead of spikes. He wanted to capture whatever it was that was following him, not kill it.

He also made several lethal traps, these he positioned close to where he would be sleeping, with vines that would trigger them buried under the leaves, hidden from view, but easily accessible. This took him most the day, and he lay down when he was finished, completely exhausted.

He slept with his feet on two lines that triggered lethal traps, and his hand resting gently on two fine vines, which would twitch in his hands if someone triggered a trap.

He didn't need the vines to know someone triggered his traps.

Crash!

It happened just after midnight, when the moon had disappeared behind a cloud. The sound was easily interpreted as someone falling through his cleverly disguised pit, and Marco leapt up as if prodded with a spear. He churned into action, drawing his sword, and slicing three vines as he passed, running towards where the sound had come from.

The vines that he had cut were connected to several hanging squares of woven branches, which would drop on top of the pits he had dug, creating a roof of sorts. It would by no means stop anyone from getting out of the pits but it would slow them down enough that they wouldn't be able to get out before he came and stopped them.

He came to his pit, and peered through the branches that covered it. This was the one that had someone fall into it, not five seconds ago. He could see the collection of branches on the dirt that showed where something heavy had fallen though. He could also see a log, which he hadn't used in the construction of the cover.

He howled with frustration. They were better than he thought. They had dropped a log in to fool him, and even now were probably sneaking up behind him.

He spun around, but there was no one there.

He heard another crash, this one more substantial, meaning that someone had fallen through the 'roof' for the pits that he had triggered just moments ago.

He gave a triumphant whoop and sprinted to the other pit, noting with satisfaction the bent branches. He then felt his mouth fall open as he realised that they had done the same thing here, dropped a log into it. He heard another crash, and could have sword he heard an amused giggle. He turned towards the other pit, and walked over to it hesitantly, already knowing what he would find. Another log dropped into the pit.

"COME OUT AND FIGHT COWARD!" He roared, brandishing his sword wildly, almost losing control. Just then, each and every one of his remaining traps were triggered one by one, as if someone had run around and tripped them at a full sprint.

He backed up into the clear space around the fire, with his back to it. He crouched down, holding his sword so tightly his knuckles were white, occasionally moaning with fear as a twig snapped nearby. Whatever it was wasn't human. He had the sudden horrible feeling that it was a ghost out there. He could have sworn he saw a pair of glowing eyes in front of him several times during the hours before morning, just out of the sphere of light cast by the fire. Whenever he saw these, he would send a burning brand towards them, revealing nothing.

\\* \\* \\*

By morning time, Marco was reduced to little more than a shell of a man, his eyes blank, unwilling to move away from the now long dead fire.

The creature in the woods took pity on him. She didn't want to do what she had done, but it was necessary in these times. It was the law that she try to drive any sentient creature away from her lair. But there was something about this creature that she liked, maybe it was the way that he had stood up and fought instead of running away at the first sign of the unknown. Every other sentient that had taken up residence in her lair had only lasted a few hours at most. Her trick of disappearing after they had a fleeting glimpse and smell of her had unnerved most of them, and scraping her claws over the rock sent them running. But not this one. He had a strong will, but she was also cunning.

She had gone a little too far this time. She had broken him. Now she had to obey the ancient laws and heal him. She sighed, and stepped into view.

He didn't even look at her; he just kept staring at the same piece of moss, rocking back and forth. Her spell might have been a little strong too. It was designed only to scare a sentient witless, but she was young, and her magic was erratic. She had sensed his strong will, and used the magic. She hadn't used it on any of the others, because they were weak-minded cowards.

She wrapped her jaws around his shirt, at the back, and dragged him into the cave, setting him up in the fire room, giving him a cup of strong liquid made from strained bark of the waking tree.

He sipped it without noticing, staring into the heart of the fire, his mind completely shut off from his body.

She sighed and went back to the lake, got his things and brought them back into the cave. She arranged his things as they had been before, and then lay down on his bed, and in minutes, she was fast asleep.

It would take twenty-four hours for his mind to be released from the grip of the fear spell. And then she would gradually bring him back to awareness with a spell that would last another twenty-four hours, at the end of which he would be completely healed and would want nothing more than to leave the forest as fast as his legs could carry him.

\\* \\* \\*

She awoke later on, how long she couldn't tell, but he was still firmly in the grips of the spell, sipping absently from the empty cup and rocking back and forth while staring at the black marks that had been the heart of the fire earlier.

She refilled the cup, lit the fire and fed it with wood, before going back to bed.

\\* \\* \\*

The next she awoke, she found the human sitting in the corner of the room, staring at her intently, his sword in one hand, his other gently caressing the length of the sheathe.

She gave a start and sat up.

He was obviously stronger in his will than she had suspected. He had broken the spell himself, through nothing more than will power. That was unheard of. She was now at the mercy of a human. Oh, what would her mother say if she could see her daughter now!

 \\* \\* \\*

"It was you, wasn't it?" He asked.

"Yes." She replied uncertainly, wondering what the human was going to do.

He could only stare at her. She was beautiful, gorgeous, more arousing than any number of females he had seen. Her lovely wings, her tail, her long feminine muzzle, which, even when filled with teeth just looked so kissable, the lovely scales of her belly, it all combined to make the most attractive creature he had ever seen. He wanted nothing more then to kiss this beautiful dragoness in front of him, but he couldn't. She probably wanted to kill him.

The dragoness could finally see what she liked about this human. He gave of an unimaginably strong presence, which made her fell oddly safe, even though he was probably about to kill her. She suddenly felt herself get inexplicably wet, and she draped a wing over herself, shifting so that this human couldn't see the effect he had on her, he would be disgusted if he knew that she was attracted to him. And would probably torture her.

 "Why?" He asked plaintively.

"Because that's what we do to every human who comes out here, we cast a fear spell on them and make them run for their lives." She replied. She saw no reason to lie; it wouldn't change the fact that she was going to die.

He suddenly laughed, long and hard, finally figuring out who the ghosts were that plagued the humans up here, it was the dragons.

He suddenly felt a strong set of jaws wrapped around his throat. His laughter died in his throat as quickly as it had started. He realised that he was going to die as a careless paw flicked his sword away into a corner of the room.

He could feel her teeth gently pricking his neck, almost drawing blood.

"Do I get a last request?" He asked weakly.

"One." The dragoness coldly, her voice muffled by his neck.

She didn't want to kill him, but she couldn't let him live; not now he had seen her. But the least she could do was give him a last request.

Marco was surprised. But he quickly made up his mind as to what he wanted.

"So...what will it be?" She growled.

 "A kiss." He stated.

He felt her jerk a little with surprise, causing one of her teeth to cut in to the soft skin of his neck. If she gave him that little request...then she would have to release his neck and then he could throw her clear and take up his sword again.

He held his breath as she gently opened her jaws and took them off his neck.

He was about to grab her and hurl her free, and then make a grab for his sword, even though he really wanted that kiss, but she was too quick for him.

Her head snaked up, and she pressed her muzzle against his lips, her tongue forcing its way past his lips into his mouth, his eyes opened in surprise as she pressed him back into the wall with her front paws on his chest. She kissed him furiously, her tongue working against his. He quickly forgot about his sword as he realised that she needed him as badly as he needed her.

His hands began to explore her body as she moved her licks onto his neck. She tore his shirt off and began to lave his chest with her tongue as he ran his hands over her chest and tummy.

Her claws tore at his shorts, tearing away the soft cloth easily, revealing his erection to her. She crooned and lowered her head even farther, running her tongue along the hard shaft hungrily. She took him all the way into her mouth and sucked hard, causing him to gasp, and his hands to slip lower on her stomach. He suddenly found his hand getting damp from her slit, and stared at her as she suckled on his cock.

He rubbed gently at her lips, spreading them and pushing a finger between them slowly. She cooed around his long cock as she somehow became even more aroused. He could feel her heat, and bent over awkwardly, pressing his tongue against her moist lips. She squealed with pleasure and writhed under him, his cock slipping from her mouth as she let it hang open in pleasure.

She moved so that she was lying fully on her back with him on top of her, running his tongue over her sex eagerly.

She finally couldn't take any more of his tongue, and rolled him over, she leapt atop him and growled lustfully. He smiled up at her and rubbed her neck as she pressed her cunt against his cock, hissing eagerly. He grabbed her head and pulled her down for a kiss, running his tongue over her teeth as she pushed downwards, impaling herself on his hard member.

She squealed in pleasure and began to purr as she bent to stare at the sight of her slit stretched over his hard shaft. She slid down it farther, enjoying the sight and feel of his cock going so deep inside her.

She began to rock back and forth slowly, her pussy moistening his cock as it moved within her. He stared at his slick length sliding inside her easily and groaned as her muscles convulsed on him.

She could feel her climax approaching, and moved faster, trying to speed its approach.

He was close also, and began to thrust upwards, nipping at her neck as she purred with pleasure.

Her cunt suddenly tightened on his cock, sending delicious shivers down his spine as she arched, a squeal escaping her throat as she came.

He thrust into her hard, and held himself there as he jetted powerfully within her. She cried out with pleasure as she felt his shaft spurt its thick, creamy load inside her. She arched and squealed again as he continued to fill her with his cum, pumping hard, her muscles undulating on his long cock, encouraging him to give her all he had.

She kept rocking gently, feeling his cock fill her with his warm cum, making her orgasm again and again. She counted three pulse pounding climax's before she collapsed onto his chest, purring contently. And they fell asleep in each other's arms.

\\* \\* \\*

Marco awoke first, and lay on his side, smiling as he stroked the dragoness's cheek.

She awoke only a few minutes later, and stared at him, before smiling and leaning into his caresses, purring gently.

"I don't even know your name, and I had sex with you." She said, hissing softly as he found a sensitive spot on her neck.

"My name's Marco, and what's yours?" He asked.

"Trouble." She said. He got the feeling that she wasn't lying to him.

"You must hear a lot of trouble jokes, huh?" He asked.

"Do you want to go again?" She asked rather suddenly, her back paws rubbing against his hips as her tongue found his neck again.

Marco felt himself getting hard. "Just one question." He said.

"This better not be a trouble joke." She warned.

And, unable to keep his face straight, he asked, "Does trouble always cum in threes?"

"}
