{"sf1_id":1226367,"sf2_id":"YnLPoxAn","title":"Shimmerspark","author":"zetasyanthis","words":391,"posted_at":"2017-08-14T00:57:00.000Z","tags":["Poem","inspiration"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1226367-shimmerspark","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/YnLPoxAn","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/97/02/97024abe-2c61-485b-ac37-3c950a17ec24","description":"#15 of Poems\n\nFollow-on to The Torch is Lit.","content":"We enter times of darkness now,  \nthe wounded and the shaken,  \nthe times that would us now destroy,  \nif we should not awaken.  \n  \nBut still I hear dear freedom's call.  \nI hear its march and chime  \nand if you now just listen close  \nyou'll see it still yet shines.  \n  \nNow as one, we will stand tall,  \nagainst these men of pain,  \nagainst all those who hurt our joy,  \nwho bring tears like the rain.  \n  \nIf I must lead, let it be now.  \nLet me stand strong and tall,  \nLet us together break these chains  \nLet not the darkness fall.  \n  \nFor we have beauty, dreams, and light,  \nand they have none they fight for.  \nThey've only pain, a pain that binds  \na pain that we seek to cure.  \n  \nI say again, we know it's cure,  \nfor we have dreams and light,  \nfor we have suffered, grown more whole,  \nand bloomed against the night.  \n  \nThey think they know our weakness now,  \nand we may well be weak,  \nbut they know not the strength within  \nthat now, at last, must speak.  \n  \nThey know not resolve, know not strength;  \nthey do not know our love.  \nBut they will hear our voice at last  \nour hearts like shining doves.  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp; But never pain we seek of them,  \nthough pain we may yet cause,  \nfor hearts damaged well beyond ours  \nthere is no healing gauze.  \n  \nEmpathy, as much a blade  \nas any surgeon's tool  \nshall be our instrument of peace,  \nas we now fight this duel.  \n  \nWith broken hearts and tear-filled eyes  \nwe'll weather coming storm.  \nAnd when the clouds at last do lift,  \nthe dawn will yet be warm.  \n  \nToday our task seems bleak, I know  \nbut hear me now and stand.  \nWe will not give into the hate  \nthat strides upon this land.  \n  \nThough we are angry, hurt, and sad,  \nWe'll not respond in kind.  \nWe'll stand and speak of love and life  \nto those with injured mind.  \n  \nA candle bright, lit on my desk  \nnow stands against the dark.  \nIt will not flicker, will not dim  \nthat shining, tiny spark.  \n  \nThis battle now, waged all in words  \nI shall now t'last commence.  \nWith shining heartstrings resonant  \nin beauty's firm defense.  \n  \nI ask you now to join as one  \nto stand against the dark  \nto stand with me against what comes  \nto hold your shimmer-spark.  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poems","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1226365-the-torch-is-lit.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1226369-breaking-through.json"}}
