The streets of Lobo City would speak of Rat-a-Tat the magician for a long time sure after Gerome's show. But he couldn't live in his after glow for very long. It was a Sunday night and he had school in the morning which meant he needed to be home.  \n  \nAfter his show Gerome left his loving crowd in a puff of smoke hiding his mad dash down city streets to get back home. He climbed the side of his house to reach the window to his room on the second story. Once inside his bedroom Gerome stripped himself of his magicians costume leaving him in his underwear. He stuffed his clothes and the money he had earned for the night into a suit case and hid it under his bed.  \n  \nHe felt slight relief as he was under the impression he'd gotten away with his dishonesty. He layed in his bed and closed his eyes with a much needed exhale, but he soon sucked his tensions back in as the door to his bedroom was opened from the outside. It was his mother.  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp; Kristina- Where have you been  \n  \nGerome- I've been here, I was asleep  \n  \nKristina- Don't you lie to me , your brother told me you were gone hours ago  \n  \nGerome got to his feet as his mother stepped further into the room. He took a moment to gather courage to tell the truth.  \n  \nGerome- I had a gig down town  \n  \nKristina- What have I told you , what has your father told you  \n  \nGerome- But mom  \n  \nKristina- Magic is not going to put a roof over your head clothes on your back or food in your mouth, you need to get serious about your future  \n  \nGerome- How are my dreams any less serious than Josh's  \n  \nKristina- This isn't about your brother  \n  \nGerome- I think it is , you let him go around believing he'll be the next football legend but I say I want to be a magician and I'm crazy  \n  \nKristina- Have you ever heard of a scholarship for magic  \n  \nGerome- That's not the point  \n  \nKristina- That is the point , look around you , your father and I try to give you boys everything but we don't live in a world of hand outs  \n  \nGerome- I know that but  \n  \nKristina- sneaking out and doing tricks for people when you know you have school in the morning is not going to help you get an education  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp; Gerome- Your not listening to me, I'm already making money, good money  \n  \nhe tried to recover his hidden stash of money from under his bed but couldn't get it free from a wooden board keeping it stuck in place.  \n  \nKristina- How long do you think magic will last you, how long do you think people will pay to see you do tricks  \n  \nOutside Gerome's bedroom his father and brother stood in the hallway listening as it was impossible to ignore the conversation. Gerome still struggled to free his briefcase for the purpose of proving a point.  \n  \nGerome- About as long as if not longer than the average football carer  \n  \nKristina- I've tried to reason with you  \n  \nfinally he gave up on retrieving his briefcase as it had only made him look more childish trying to free it from under his bed in his underwear.  \n  \nGerome- this is crazy , I'm making money and it makes me happy why do my dreams have to matter less  \n  \nKristina- If you don't give up on this magic phase and focus on school then you can leave  \n  \nGerome- Leave?  \n  \nKristina- My children are not going to be uneducated street rats , your father and I have worked too hard for that , been through too much  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp; Gerome- You don't want your kids to be street rats but your willing to kick me out for following my dreams  \n  \nKristina- Your 17 , your father and I haven't been obligated to take care of you for two years now , if you really think you can make it out there doing magic then go  \n  \nGerome- Mom your not serious  \n  \nKristina- You don't want to listen to me or your father , you don't want to go to school, fine go do what you want to do  \n  \nGerome- Mom  \n  \nKristina- You ether put away the magic act or you leave, it's your choice and I hope that for as smart as you are you make the right decision  \n  \nWith a silence that cut through the air the conversation was done. Kristina left Gerome's bedroom. Gerome sank to the floor only to watch his brother and father walk past his door way , clearly they were listening.  \n  \n\n","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1257704-three-perspectives-pt-2-lock-box-intro.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1257710-three-perspectives-pt-4-sleep-on-it.json"}
