{"sf1_id":134184,"sf2_id":"q1x60vym","title":"Don't kill the wolf","author":"Randar","words":351,"posted_at":"2010-03-25T17:42:00.000Z","tags":[],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/134184-don-t-kill-the-wolf","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/q1x60vym","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/80/6e/806ead7a-2519-4515-9fa1-25dd3350677f","description":"","content":"\u0026nbsp;\n\nThe low murmur of chants\u0026nbsp;  \nAnd the slow tempo of the drums,\u0026nbsp;  \nThe Indian braves dance around the fire\u0026nbsp;  \nAs the wolf spirit comes.\u0026nbsp;  \nThe slight bellow of a howl\u0026nbsp;  \nOff in the distance you hear,\u0026nbsp;  \nThe wolf and Indian are brothers\u0026nbsp;  \nTo each, they show no fear.\n\nThey respect one another\u0026nbsp;  \nBecause they share the same land,\u0026nbsp;  \nThe Indian learns from the wolf\u0026nbsp;  \nThe lessons he keeps at hand.\u0026nbsp;  \nThe wolf is strong and stealth\u0026nbsp;  \nIn his characteristic ways,\u0026nbsp;  \nHis howl lets you know\u0026nbsp;  \nIt is the end of the day.\n\nThe wolf was many\u0026nbsp;  \nAs in the days of old,\u0026nbsp;  \nBut now there are few\u0026nbsp;  \nThat stand so bold.\u0026nbsp;  \nThe white man shows fear\u0026nbsp;  \nSo with fear, he kills,\u0026nbsp;  \nThus, he builds up the land\u0026nbsp;  \nWith all his skills.\n\nThe white man doesn't understand\u0026nbsp;  \nWhy the wolf kills,\u0026nbsp;  \nHe too has to survive\u0026nbsp;  \nWith his instincts and skills.\u0026nbsp;  \nThe more man builds the land\u0026nbsp;  \nThe more he takes away,\u0026nbsp;  \nThe wolf has no where to go\u0026nbsp;  \nWhere is his prey?\n\nHis prey is the white man's\u0026nbsp;  \nChickens, cattle, or sheep,\u0026nbsp;  \nHe attacks them unexpected\u0026nbsp;  \nWhen the white man goes to sleep.\u0026nbsp;  \nThus, it has made man mad\u0026nbsp;  \nWhen he saw the tracks,\u0026nbsp;  \nIt was a dog like animal\u0026nbsp;  \nFor they ran in packs.\n\nThey felt threatened and scared\u0026nbsp;  \nBy the wolves periodic attacks,\u0026nbsp;  \nThey're surely vicious\u0026nbsp;  \nWhen they run in packs.\u0026nbsp;  \nBut whose fault is this\u0026nbsp;  \nIs it man or beast?\u0026nbsp;  \nWe all have to survive\u0026nbsp;  \nTo say the least.\n\nBut in order to survive\u0026nbsp;  \nWe all have to share,\u0026nbsp;  \nBy giving of something\u0026nbsp;  \nAnd to show you care.\u0026nbsp;  \nLet's save the wolf\u0026nbsp;  \nAnd respect his needs,\u0026nbsp;  \nHe's not a real threat\u0026nbsp;  \nGive back, on what he feeds.\n\nThere's a senseless slaughter  \nGoing on these days,  \nOf killing wolves and\u0026nbsp;  \nKeeping them at bay.\u0026nbsp;  \nThis can be stopped\u0026nbsp;  \nBut not without your voice,  \nLet's save the wolves\u0026nbsp;  \nMake the right choice.\n\n--_ **Robert Mosteller** _\n\n\\*\\*\\*\\*\\*\\*\\*\\*\\*\\*\n\nI claim no ownership of this story.
