# A Simple Dream

A poem I wrote this morning after a dream I had last night, dedicated to my dog Patches.

Last night I dreamed a simple dream, but it still has me crying. That you were laying by my bed, mere hours after dying. You looked at me and cocked your head,  as though you couldn't see, just exactly how much your life meant to me. I watched you grow from just a pup, and gave you love almost everyday, until those terrible two weeks in which you slipped away. I tried to pet your head, though you ran away, and walked towards the door, with a look that said, "I can't stay." I nodded said "I love you." and you just wagged your tail., silently telling me, I didn't have to tell. I wish that I had been there when you took your final breath, But know that I still love you even after death. So ended my simple dream that even  now has me crying. Of you coming to me, to say goodbye, hours after dying.
