To sum it up, self-defense or a pre-emptive strike against an already hostile force are the only valid reasons to fight and die.","content":"Wasted\n\n(06/12/2018)\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nA generation hasn't gone,\n\nWithout becoming ruler's pawn,\n\nSent away to serve their need,\n\nFighting for their endless greed,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nHack and slash or shoot the gun,\n\nFor there is nowhere they can run,\n\nWin the fight and save the day,\n\nOr family by their graves will pray,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nThe rulers sit and eat a feast,\n\nThey couldn't care, not in the least,\n\nThey don't see the soldier's hell,\n\nOr hear the ringing funeral bell,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nThey dare not part with their gold,\n\nBeating hearts instead are sold,\n\nThe cost of war cannot be weighed,\n\nAnd flesh is easier to trade,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nSo long as they are satisfied,\n\nThe peon's future is denied,\n\nOrphaned kids and crying wives,\n\nLeft to suffer shattered lives,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nSitting in a field of stones,\n\nRelatives talk to the bones,\n\nThe pain that follows many days,\n\nEventually will fade away,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nJust in time to be reborn,\n\nAs new adults are bled and torn,\n\nDying for an indiscretion,\n\nOr their leader's sick obsession,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nPlanted bodies feed the trees,\n\nRevenants sway in the breeze,\n\nBlood and iron is all they've tasted,\n\nCry for all the lives they've wasted.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poetry","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1355678-there-be-dragons.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1355683-voodoo-shark.json"}}
