This was written as a direct result of finally telling everyone I know about my long-standing interest in the fandom, including my (now ex) girlfriend. As you can imagine, not everyone was so accepting.","content":"Delineate\n\n(01/07/2018)\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nWhat is it like to be a part of this crew?\n\nRead for a moment and I'll share it with you,\n\nIt's often a lonely and secretive life,\n\nIt's forever enduring a personal strife,\n\nTo desire a dream that can never come true,\n\nThe world through our eyes is a remarkable view,\n\nWe accept our proclivities and feel no shame,\n\nAs life with a paw was never a game,\n\nBut outsiders look and they snicker and jeer,\n\nThough I think their reaction is caused by their fear,\n\nOf something that they cannot understand,\n\nI d not blame them, it's the nature of man,\n\nOur family and friends have so eagerly shunned,\n\nThe \"animal people\" leave them all stunned,\n\nThey don't read our stories or admire our art,\n\nBelieving our interest is merely a farce,\n\nA twisted perversion, or a soul that is stained,\n\nA mental regression caused by serious pain,\n\nBut we know in our hearts that it isn't an act,\n\nSome ritual magic, or a demonic pact,\n\nIt is simply the creature living inside of you,\n\nAnd they did not appear right out of the blue,\n\nThe anthropomorphic who is dwelling within,\n\nNeed not be explained, or absolved like a sin,\n\nWe don't feel ashamed to be who we are,\n\nEveryone has to endure a few scars,\n\nBut ours we can hide with scales, feathers and fur,\n\nWe won't let harsh words stick like a bur,\n\nWhen we're not alone still others will feel,\n\nRidicule and dejection, a pain that is real,\n\nSo we roll with the punches and to our kind confide,\n\nThere are many of us who will stand side by side,\n\nIn the end it's a life just like all of the rest,\n\nBut in my opinion it is one of the best,\n\nSo join if you'd like, or continue to glance,\n\nAnd thank you for enduring my congenial rant.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poetry","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1355775-manitou.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1355839-tennessee-snow.json"}}
