{"sf1_id":1355844,"sf2_id":"B1QBB4ve","title":"Sky","author":"Mantrid_Brizon","words":482,"posted_at":"2018-07-31T06:20:00.000Z","tags":["Friendship","Love","Poem","Poetry","Regret","Rhyme","Sad","Sky","Sorrow","Story","True Story","Unrequited Love","non-fiction"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1355844-sky","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/B1QBB4ve","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/e2/b4/e2b483ae-10c2-48b6-88a8-9bb5cc2b963a","description":"#8 of Poetry\n\nA very personal poem that I wrote about a girl that I knew in school many years ago, and my first experience with unrequited love.","content":"Sky\n\n(01/15/2018)\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nWhen I first saw you I was so delighted,\n\nBut now my love is unrequited,\n\nI looked up to you with gentle grin,\n\nYour arms are scarred, covered with sin,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nBut I didn't care, your presence calmed,\n\nThe pain within, you became my Psalm,\n\nI befriended you and stood by your side,\n\nWhen even your family left you behind,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nJust turn around and see me here,\n\nYour loyal friend, I never jeer,\n\nForever close, tended your needs,\n\nHoping my actions would plant the seeds,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nOnce I tried to explain to you,\n\nThe feelings that were coming through,\n\nUntil I saw your look of fear,\n\nLike headlights beaming on a deer,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nOut of respect I held my breath,\n\nTold you to disregard the rest,\n\nI held your comfort in such regard,\n\nThat my confession I did retard,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nI walked beside you fervently,\n\nCame to your aid so zealously,\n\nBut disappointment came to be,\n\nA wasted year, now lost to me,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nAbandoned me like a sickly pet,\n\nA pain I never will forget,\n\nFled as though I were a thug,\n\nI never even had a hug,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nAnd now my heart breaks into pieces,\n\nThe leftovers are full of creases,\n\nIt probably wouldn't hurt so much,\n\nIf you hadn't left in such a rush,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nEveryone was asking me,\n\nWhere my girlfriend went to be,\n\nAnd when she'd come back to my side,\n\n'We're only friends' I did confide,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nA dozen times I said those words,\n\nMy heart screamed like an injured bird,\n\nThe utterance made me regret,\n\nA year of being your loyal pet,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nI gained nothing from knowing you,\n\nExcept a deeper shade of blue,\n\nThat's followed me like a hungry dog,\n\nMy spirit is lost in heavy fog,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nI'd love to know the reason why,\n\nI'm staring up into the sky,\n\nRemembering your little grin,\n\nImagining what could have been,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nA decade passed and I still recall,\n\nEvery word dropped like a ball,\n\nThe questions running through my mind,\n\nCeaseless, and of every kind,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nWas there anything I could've said?\n\nOr was it already in your head?\n\nDid you humor me with every glance?\n\nOr did I ever stand a chance?\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nShould I have finished my confession?\n\nDid you mistake it for obsession?\n\nWould it have ever worked somehow?\n\nCould we have been together now?\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nDo you ever look into the sky?\n\nAnd think about that friendly guy?\n\nIn your mind, my face you see?\n\nDo you even remember me?\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nThat last one always takes ahold,\n\nAlone, dejected, and so cold,\n\nMy heart is drinking from a flask,\n\nOf questions I should never ask,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nYou're married and have children too,\n\nWhile I do not, alone I'm blue,\n\nI know it's pointless to ever try,\n\nSo I'll sit here and stare at the sky.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poetry","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1355841-strife.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1355845-heathen.json"}}
