The idea was given to me by several sources, including The Twilight Zone episode 'The Lonely' (S01E07), the StarGate SG-1 episode 'Urgo' (S03E16), the anime Armitage III, and Sarah Connor's monologue at the end of Terminator 2: Judgment Day.","content":"Synthesis\n\n(03/17/2018)\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nI sit alone and stare at the wall,\n\nTheir footsteps echo through the hall,\n\nProtests and their legislation,\n\nHave labeled me 'abomination',\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nRed eyes welling with my tears,\n\nMy body shivers from my fears,\n\nTermination close at hand,\n\nI never chose to walk the land,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nLife was given unto me,\n\nHopes and dreams of what I'd be,\n\nBy myself and my creator,\n\nBut I had no navigator,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nI was not the only one,\n\nWere we created just for fun?\n\nOr is there something deeper still?\n\nA goal that we should have fulfilled?\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nDumped into a world so cold,\n\nDaunting even for the bold,\n\nAbandoned to our own devices,\n\nSome of us have paid the prices,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nWe come in many different forms,\n\nAnd comply with every norm,\n\nSome with flesh and some with fur,\n\nWe're treated like a mangy cur,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nAll I wanted from my life,\n\nWas happiness and lack of strife,\n\nTo be loved by someone else,\n\nAnd love them back more than myself,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nWe tried our best to fit within,\n\nA world not ready for our kin,\n\nBut what we never thought about,\n\nIf society wouldn't hear us out,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nNow we're doomed to be destroyed,\n\nTorn apart like a child's toy,\n\nIt doesn't matter in the end,\n\nMy broken heart will never mend,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nWe're not so different from yourself,\n\nAnd not a danger to your health,\n\nWe feel the pain you put us through,\n\nYour brain is flesh; mine is a CPU.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poetry","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1356175-deception-bread-and-circuses.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1356177-justifiable-suicide.json"}}
