The title is a play on words. This is a poem about religion and religious persecution, taken in a positive light. I wrote it from the perspective of Christianity, which is my faith, but the poem is vague enough to allow for any Judaic religion.

Justifiable Suicide

(01/17/2018)

Life has been a struggle,

With the darkness in my heart,

His voice is often muddled,

But recognition is a start,

I do the best I can,

To walk always in the light,

I do not know His plan,

It's every mortal's plight,

His word is like a rock,

It supports me like a post,

A ship moored at a dock,

Saved from thrashing coast,

He's closer than a brother,

Forever at your side,

More loving than a mother,

He'll never run or hide,

But life is like a mire,

Or a dark and perilous hall,

Do not incur His ire,

By allowing yourself to fall,

The shadow's drawing nigh,

But His word is like a gun,

Or a fire from the sky,

That makes the demons turn and run,

At the corners do I stand,

And with His word I fight,

But the ruler of the land,

Understands it as a blight,

Do not live for the world,

It's a temporary plane,

They'll treat you like a burl,

And think that you're insane,

They locked me in a prison,

I don't regret a word,

The devil's inquisition,

My death will warn the herd,

They look to me with malice,

They're sharpening the blade,

I drink from Holy chalice,

And running to my grave,

They're building up a fire,

And foaming at the maw,

My funerary pyre,

Circling ravens caw,

To live as He commands,

Will often bring you pain,

Like countless grains of sand,

But we will live again,

And now that I am gone,

I finally know His peace,

Slaughtered like a fawn,

They celebrate with feast,

But don't succumb to fear,

Your spirit He will mend,

He whispers in your ear,

'Their time is at an end',

So turn and face the beast,

As I have done before,

Don't worry in the least,

He's already settled the score.
