I think most everyone knows someone like this, and would share the same frustration at their troubling personality.","content":"Sterling\n\n(06/13/2018)\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nSomeone once told me to 'be who you are',\n\nEven if that causes pain and leaves scars,\n\nBut heeding their words I do not regret,\n\nI'd rather live true than tell lies I'd forget,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nBut some of you do not live in the light,\n\nInstead you have chosen to hide in the night,\n\nWalking through life with a mask on your face,\n\nOf the person beneath there is hardly a trace,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nYou put on an act for others to see,\n\nPerhaps if you fake it you will truly be?\n\nAnd if nothing else you'll always have friends,\n\nBut that will not matter when day's at an end,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nSitting in church but you've never believed,\n\nAnd once you walked out you were so relieved,\n\nThe lies that you tell have so many layers,\n\nAnd God doesn't hear your fictitious prayers,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nWhat in your mind makes you say all those things?\n\nDo you not see all the trouble it brings?\n\nTrying to please everyone but yourself,\n\nAnd never once daring to ask them for help,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nAll that you are is a twisted charade,\n\nPretentious persona in constant parade,\n\nForgotten yourself, you no longer know,\n\nThe person within is dealt fatal blow,\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nYou were once shinning but no longer glisten,\n\nI'll say it once, so my words you listen,\n\nInto a void your spirit is hurling,\n\nYou are not platinum, you're just tarnished sterling.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poetry","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1356187-heart-of-a-gunslinger.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1385317-red-claw-s-rhyme.json"}}
