I am on my way to the light, but I can only get there by going through...","content":" **The**  **Darkness**\n\nHere it is again,\n\nThe broiling, wroiling, deepest, darkest pit\n\nSeemingly endless, seemingly depthless,\n\nThe bottommost place.\n\nMy pitch black nemesis.\n\nI struggle away, stumbling, tumbling\n\nOnly to return and tremble in its presence.\n\nEvery time I gaze upon it\n\nI lose my way and everything loses focus.\n\nWhere am I?\n\nWho am I?\n\nWhat am I?\n\nAgain, I am at the precipice,\n\nThe edge of reason and light.\n\nIt pulls me, calls me, beckons me\n\nEver closer. Step by step.\n\nEvery path leads me to it.\n\nEvery option takes me back.\n\nI am at the edge.\n\nI am closer than ever before.\n\nI stare deep within.\n\nDeeper into that darkness.\n\nMy darkness.\n\nWhat do I see?\n\nWhat is inside me?\n\nWhat am I so afraid of?\n\nShould I jump?\n\nWhat hides within?\n\nEnvy.\n\nWrath.\n\nLust.\n\nPride.\n\nGluttony.\n\nSloth.\n\nGreed.\n\nWhat lies beyond?\n\nIs it a greater darkness?\n\nThe bottom.\n\nThe end.\n\nOr is it more?\n\nA beginning after an end.\n\nA new start.\n\nA clear path to more?\n\nI am afraid.\n\nThe darkness haunts me.\n\nThe light eludes me.\n\nI cannot go back.\n\nCannot go up.\n\nThere is only down.\n\nTo the depths,\n\nThe darkness.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Dark Poems","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1353223-the-end.json"}}
