{"sf1_id":138231,"sf2_id":"rm8B76y1","title":"Sadness","author":"Duran","words":253,"posted_at":"2010-04-10T07:41:00.000Z","tags":["Brakeup","Sad","peom"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/138231-sadness","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/rm8B76y1","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/8c/30/8c30adbd-6067-4469-96f0-96a7f5c95439","description":"","content":"Sadness\n\nIt comes in waves.\n\nIt ebbs to the point you think\n\nyou can move on again,\n\nand then without warning it crashes\n\ndown on you with even greater\n\nstrength than before.\n\nIt snickers and laughs,\n\nas It drags you down into the cold\n\nand lifeless dark.\n\nYou can fight, at first.\n\nBut after hours of the unrelenting assault\n\nyou realize that your will has worn down,\n\nyour resolve has dissolved,\n\neroded away by the never\n\nending crash of the waves.\n\nGround down to the finest sand and then,\n\nat that lowest point, you give in.\n\nYou let It close over your head\n\nand slip into blissful emptiness.\n\nAs you slide, at last, beneath the waves\n\nof It you smile as calm steals over you.\n\n\"Almost over,\"\n\nyou say to yourself,\n\n\"Soon there will be no more pain,\"\n\nbut It only sneers at you\n\nand as you lie on the bottom of It\n\nyou find that despite how much you want It,\n\nhow much you wish to just curl up and wither\n\naway It won't let you.\n\nIt laughs at the look on your face\n\nwhen you realize it was all for nothing.\n\nAll the effort, all the work,\n\nall the time spent amounts to utterly nothing,\n\nbut pain and hurt. And then It has you,\n\nfor the rest of what feels like forever.\n\nBut you tell yourself again,\n\nlike you did when the words came at first.\n\n\"Nothing lasts forever.\"\n\n_Written after my first brake up, one of many more to come._\n\n  \n  \n\n"}
