Episode Thirteen: Fantasia

Trapped within a dark void, Grey wanders the depths of his own mind. Dreaming as he lay atop the hospital bed, April sits beside him, lovingly running her claws through his hair. Now stripped of his old clothes, much of them damaged and unsalvageable, his body was handwashed by Dr. Shaw, several assistants and April herself. Wearing only a pair of scrub pants, he mumbles and groans faintly, his chest heaving as he struggles with his dark visions.

“Is he going to be alright?” April turns to Dr. Shaw.

The older otter Voeldahn adjusts his salvaged reading glasses, examining Grey’s infected bullet wound beneath his clean gauss bandages. Feeling his forehead, which bears beads of sweat, he takes a stethoscope and listens to his labored breathing and heartbeat. Dr. Shaw was an adult when The Ending occurred, a twenty-one-year-old medical student at Harvard when the riots began and the lights turned off. Using what knowledge he has, the nearly sixty-year-old man pulls the stethoscope from his rounded ears, smiling at April.

“Oh, I think so.” Dr. Shaw eventually replies.

“He doesn’t look so good. He looks like he’s in pain.” April remarks, a fretful look in her eyes.

“He very well might be, but he’s just dreaming. Physically, I think we found him in time, and he won’t feel anything in his sleep. His wound was infected, but I drained the puss and cleaned it properly. With the half-life of the antibiotics stored here, they should be strong enough to save him.”

“Thank you, Doctor. You have no idea how much this means to me.”

April’s lips curl into a satisfied grin as she stares at Grey, her fingers weaving through his long hair as she pets his head as if he was a pet dog.

“Of course. Honestly, I should still be thanking you, April. You brought in myself and my family, brought us here, and now I’m working in a clinic; it’s what I’ve always wanted to do.” Dr. Shaw remarks.

“Well, I guess we’re even then.” April murmurs.

Leaving the room to tend to his other patients, April is left alone with Grey. Sitting at the edge of his bed, she stops stroking his head to examine the sophisticated furniture. Finding a lever beneath the railing, meant to prevent him from rolling out of bed, she lowers the barrier on her side. Stretching out, April lay beside Grey, a hand resting upon his chest. Nuzzling his cheek with her snout, she smells his flesh. Wriggling closer, her brown and white bodysuit presses against his left side, her ample, C-cup breasts pressing into his arm. Unable to resist, April gives him a little kiss, nuzzling him more as he seems to struggle with a nightmare.

Staring at him with her sapphire eyes, she looks over his face, her lips curling in a mild disappointment. While she’s overjoyed to have him back, unable to believe that her dreams have steered her in the right direction, she can’t help but be a little disappointed. She wants to feel him and she wants him to feel her. His arms around her slender body, her lips upon his, and her warmth radiating between them. With kisses that are left unreturned, she hopes that he’ll wake up soon.

“Mmm... Nnnahhh...” Grey’s head turns, his mouth hanging open as he pants.

April strokes his cheek with the backs of her fur covered fingers, her black claws gleaming in the mid-day sunlight that pierces the room.

“It’s okay, my little bear.” She coos, whispering into his ear. “You’re safe now, with me.” She softly kisses his cheek. “Rest and get better.”

“Mah... Nnn...”

“I wonder what you’re dreaming about.” April thinks aloud.

Pushing through the brush of the swamps, Grey wanders through the fetid muck. It sticks to his feet like glue, causing him to struggle.

“Monica! ... Please! Where are you?!” He calls out.

Continuing his arduous march, he pulls hard with his legs. Losing his balance, his eyes shift downward. He yelps, startled by the blood that oozes around his ankles as he stands in the mud. Panicking, he falls forward as he rips his feet from the moist soil, scrambling away. Pushing through a bush, he finds himself looking at a familiar tree, bearing the carvings of her grave.

“No!” He drops to his knees. “Please, God... Please bring her back.”

“Hi!”

Sniffling, Grey turns his head to the sky. There, sitting in a tree and wearing her maroon top and faded blue jeans sits Monica. Swaying her pawlike feet, she smiles and waves, moving every clawed finger. She casts a shadow upon her own grave,

“Monica!” He exclaims.

“It’s nice to see you too, furless.” She giggles.

“I’ve been looking for you! I miss you, Precious.”

Resting her hands on the thick branch of the willow, Monica pushes herself from the tree. Landing gracefully in the muck, she stands upon her own grave. Grey looks at the dirt that oozes between her thick, animalesque toes, his smile fading. Stepping closer, Monica slips her arms around his waist, drawing his attention.

“I’m not in there, Grey. I’ve never been in there.”

“What do you mean?” He asks, looking into her beautiful, sterling eyes.

“I always believed you, you know. I acted like I didn’t because I wanted you to think I was strong, but I did. I listened every time you spoke to Him, and everything you’ve ever done convinced me He was real. Far too many coincidences to be the blind luck of a crazy man. I even read your little book while you slept. Because of you, we’re with Him now. We’re with the voice, and it’s wonderful here.” She smiles.

“We?”

“Our son and I.” She clarifies. “We’re in a great place, and we’ll be waiting for you.”

“Why do we have to wait? Can’t I just come now?” Grey asks, a tear running down his cheek.

“No.” She swiftly replies, wiping the tear away. “You still have something you need to do.”

“It’s just so hard...”

“Listen to me, Irvine.”

“You said you’d never call me that.” He cracks a little smile.

“I know you miss me, and I miss you too, but you can’t stop now. I know you want to see me and our son; it’s easier for us because we can watch you from where we are, but trust me when I say that you’ll see me again, as I see you. You’ll meet Irvine the Second in time. There’s a piece of us in your heart. It’ll always be there. Use it to give you strength. I can’t lie to you; it’ll be a while, but one day you’ll join us. Until then...”

“Please, no.” He whimpers.

“Wake up.”

“Please, God, no.”

“Wake up!” Monica urges him.

Staring at Monica’s face, the world darkens around them until nothing but her silver eyes and silhouette are visible. Her face slowly morphs, changing form and turning whiter as the world begins to glow. Brighter and brighter the world becomes, with the features entirely changed. No longer is he standing in the swamp, but lying in a bed. Instead of staring at the tree which acts as Monica’s grave marker, he stares at a wall of glowing windows. Centered in his view, Monica’s face has completely transformed. April’s sapphire eyes gaze into his.

“Am I dead?” He weakly asks.

“Not even close.” April replies.

Reaching out a hand and stroking his cheek, April’s caught of guard when Grey rests his hand over hers. Rubbing the soft fur of her hand and closing his eyes tightly, she’s horrified at the sight of a tear escaping. Softly weeping in front of her, she feels her heart breaking.

“There, there, little bear. You’re safe now.” She coos.

Leaning in, she kisses his forehead. Grey doesn’t reply, though he slips an arm around her body. Pulling her in, April can feel her temperature rising. Her loins tingle and burn as he touches her, requiring only the minimum of his attention to set her off; sex is one of the few ways she knows how to show her affection. With shaking breath, she slides even closer on the bed, lying beside him and prepared for anything. However, rather than initiating sex, which she was more than ready and willing for, he merely cries, hugging her for comfort. Holding him in kind, April rests her head on his shoulder, doing her best to console the human.

She fawns over him, her servile demeanor a shock to any who would witness this moment. The violent and aggressive April lay beside Grey, her feline tail swaying over the edge of the bed as she cuddles with him. Sobbing quietly, he holds onto her as if he were a child and she his teddy bear. Though his tears upset her, the sensation of being in his arms after nearly a season of searching for him fills her with delight. She can’t help but smile, letting him use her for his emotional gratification. After several minutes, Grey sniffles, the river of saline water drying on his cheeks.

Silently reposed in bed together, April shifts her eyes, turning her blue orbs up toward Grey. Watching him with a little grin, Grey closes his eyes. His muscles relax as he seems to fall back asleep. She gleefully takes credit for helping to ease his pain, her smile wide and baring her teeth. Draping a leg gently over his, she settles in, listening to the chirping of the birds outside and Grey’s methodic breathing. Footsteps echo in the hall, drawing nearer to the door.

“How’s he do-”

Dr. Shaw stops in his tracks, looking with surprise as April lay in bed with his patient. Her sapphire eyes open, her brow furled in anger as she brings a finger to her lips, silently shushing him. As he steps softly into the room, April returns her focus to the unconscious human, resting her head on his shoulder and placing a hand upon his chest. Taking a sterile needle and syringe, April watches as Dr. Shaw pokes the needle into a port attached to the I.V. running into Grey’s arm, attached to a bag of powerful antibiotics mixed with saline solution.

“What’s that?” She asks, lifting her head.

“This will keep him asleep for a while.” He answers.

“Why?!” She sits up.

“He needs to rest; bodies produce more white blood cells when sleeping, increasing the speed of healing. That, and the painkillers we have are mostly expired, making them dangerous to use. He won’t feel too well if he’s awake.”

“Oh. Maybe that’s why...” April scratches her chin.

“Why what?”

“Nothing.”

“So... How long are you going to visit?” He asks, removing the needle from the port.

“I’m staying here.”

“Are you sure that’s a-”

“I’m staying here...” She reiterates, her eyes narrowing.

“Right. I’ll come back to check on him.”

“Shouldn’t you stay with him too, Doc?”

“No. He should be fine.”

As Dr. Shaw leaves the room, April is once again alone with Grey. Lying back on her side, she slips an arm beneath his pillow, draping the other across his chest. Holding him close, she can smell the subtle scent radiating from his human skin. With her lips curled up around the corners of her snout, she nuzzles his cheek, feeling incredibly relaxed.

“Mmm...” She sighs. “It’s so good to have you back.”

Wandering through the halls of the clinic, Augustine searches for April, a ceramic plate held firmly in one hand. Her mom hasn’t left the facility since Grey was brought there late that morning. She didn’t even come out for a lunch. Augustine has spent the day with Tyson, viewing the progress as their tribe settle in Searchlight. However, as the sun made it’s rounds and the afternoon became evening, her mother still hasn’t appeared. With dinner prepared for her, Augustine hopes to lure her back home, to the luxury loft of Searchlight Tower. Turning a corner, Dr. Shaw spots her and waves.

“Hello! I didn’t expect to see you here so soon.”

“Hey, Doc. I’m just looking for my mom.”

“Oh, she’s still with him.” He replies. “I’ll take you to her. It’s been a couple hours; I should check his vitals again.”

Motioning for her to follow him, Dr. Shaw takes her through the hallways of the clinic, heading for Grey’s room.

“What’ve you got there?”

“Food.” Augustine smirks. “I was hoping to bribe her into coming home.”

“Good luck... Who is he, if you don’t mind my asking?”

“Grey? I don’t know... I only met him once before. He seemed nice, but my mom really likes him.”

“I’ve noticed. She was laying in his bed with him while he slept. I thought maybe he was your long-lost father or something.”

“Not that I know of.”

“Huh...”

“She caught him when we still lived in a town called Coalton. He was her prisoner.” Augustine continues.

“A prisoner?! What’d he do?!”

“I don’t know. Probably nothing. My mom liked keeping humans for her own enjoyment. She’d usually hurt them, but if she liked them, she’d play with them until they weren’t worth keeping anymore.”

“... Should we be leaving her alone with him?” Dr. Shaw asks, visibly concerned.

“I don’t think she’d hurt him.” Augustine retorts.

“Why not? He’s human.”

“Because she loves him too much. I see her crying sometimes; I think it’s because she misses him. When we left Coalton, we didn’t even know about Searchlight; we didn’t know about it for weeks, but we were still heading south. I think mom picked it because she knew he was going that way too.” Augustine explains.

“You think she walked for months just to see him again?”

“You still don’t know my mom, Doc. You’re kind of new to our group. My mom is very... Determined.”

“Clearly.” Dr. Shaw murmurs.

Returning to the room, Augustine and Dr. Shaw enter to find April sleeping peacefully beside Grey, a little smile on her face. Stepping inside, Augustine sets the plate down on a rolling table near Grey’s bed. Gently shaking April’s shoulder, she rouses her mom from her sleep. Opening her eyes and slowly sitting up, April stretches and yawns. Her Micro-Uzi still sits in her holster, attached to her custom rig. Accustomed to discomfort, she’d slept laying on the weapon.

“Hi mom.”

“Hi, sweetheart. What’re you doing here?”

“You didn’t come out for dinner, so I brought you some!”

“Oh! Thanks, sweetheart!” April smiles.

Pushing the table toward her, Augustine sits across from her mom, watching her dig into a plate of chicken and white rice, with a little bowl of cabbage soup on the side. Dr. Shaw presses a stethoscope to Grey’s chest, holding a wrist and feeling his pulse while staring intently at his mechanical pocket watch.

“Are you coming home?” Augustine asks.

“I want to stay with Grey.” April replies.

“Oh...”

“Why?”

“I was hoping you’d come home... I don’t want to spend a night alone in the loft.” Augustine admits.

“You have a gun. Remember, I had Havana and Kindle find you a colorful one! ... You have it on you right?” April narrows her eyes.

“Uh-huh!”

Slipping her clawed hand into the left front pocket of her lightweight purple jacket, she retrieves the Taurus G2c semi-automatic pistol. With a dark purple frame that matches her jacket, the slide, trigger and baseplate of her twelve round 9x19mm Parabellum magazine are a contrasting black.

“Good girl.” April grins.

Augustine smiles from her mother’s praise, slipping the weapon back into her pocket.

“You’ll be fine. Just keep it close and lock the loft door. I’ll be back soon.” April continues.

“It’s just... I don’t want to be there alone.” Augustine murmurs.

“You know, there’s a staff room just down the hall. We set it up for on-duty personnel to rest and have lunch, but it has a couple of beds too.” Dr. Shaw interjects.

“Well, there you go!” April chirps.

“It’ll be the third door on your left if you head back toward the lobby, near the front door.”

With April refusing to leave, Augustine agrees to spend the night there instead, ardently opposed to sleeping alone in the loft. With Grey’s vitals quite strong, Dr. Shaw assures the women that he’ll be alright before taking his leave, returning home for the night. Augustine spends time in the room with her mother and Grey, flipping through several old magazines taken from the lobby. When she grows tired, she too departs to find the staff room, once again leaving April alone with the human man. Stretching out on his bed beside him, the room is lit only with an old oil lamp fueled by scavenged kerosene.

Reaching out a clawed hand, April rests it against his chest. She feels his soft breathing, her sapphire eyes examining him. Her black nails rake his pale flesh, leaving a faint red mark in the amber glow of the oil lamp. A sinister and sadistic urge suddenly comes over her, and she flashes a toothy smile. How she'd love to play with his flesh. Stretching out her arm that supports her, she slides it beneath his pillow, once again lying beside him. She watches her claws as she gently rakes his skin, her hand reaching for Grey's scrub pants. Slipping her fingers behind the elastic waistband, she pulls his garment away, creating enough of a gap to peek through.

Her eyes grow wide as she views his member. She feels a rush, a sudden burning and stirring in her loins. The pleasure she could derive from his body would be indescribable. Recalling how she'd raped Danny so many years ago, impregnating herself with Augustine, she bites her bottom lip. Could she enjoy Grey in a similar manner? She knows for certain that a male’s organ can react to stimulus, rising for the occasion whether he wants it to or not. With his wound obscured by his body, lying near his left side, it's easy to forget his condition as he lay sleeping.

Turning her sapphire eyes toward him causes her to pause. Resting quite peacefully, Grey has an aura of innocence about him; it’s as if she’s looking at a young child. His masculine features and beard don’t betray this aura. While April has her sinister thoughts, still feeling the same twisted and unnatural desires that she wished to unleash upon him while he was her prisoner, this is the first time she can ever recall being truly disgusted with herself for it. How could she possibly consider raping and abusing Grey? How could she take pleasure in harming him?

He's the only man besides Sniper to ever truly be kind to her, after the raiders killed her parents when she was barely Augustine's age. All she's wanted since she fell in love with Grey is for him to return and be hers, hopefully by choice. Her eyes well up as she struggles with the dichotomy of her sadistic desires and her feelings for Grey. She's tried so hard to be good, going to great lengths to win his affection. She can't risk it all by allowing her old ways to creep in; she can't molest Grey they way she would've had he never escaped her cage in Coalton, months ago. Sitting up in bed, she sniffles and wipes her eyes.

"You're lucky..." She murmurs, glancing back at Grey. "If I didn't love you so much..."

She doesn’t bother to finish her sentence. Leaning in, she kisses him tenderly on the cheek, her hand resting on his face.

"Please get well soon and wake up, while I have the strength to resist."

Dimming the lantern, April leaves the room so that she isn’t tempted to use him. Waking the halls, April finds Augustine lying down in one of the beds, still awake but attempting to fall asleep. Illuminated by another lantern, her purple and black pistol sits on a table beside her bed. Seeing her mother entering, Augustine smiles wide, pleased to see that her mother decided to join her. Taking the bed beside Augustine, April removes her boots, Micro-Uzi and her weapon harness, but leaves on her bodysuit as she slips beneath the covers. No longer does April struggle to sleep; simply knowing that Grey is there is enough to bring her peace.

Waking the next morning, the mother and daughter spend time together, eating their breakfast of fresh alligator and eggs beside the drugged and sleeping Grey.

“That was good.” Augustine sighs, finishing her meal.

“Yeah. I never knew gator was so delicious.”

Rising from her seat, Augustine checks her jacket pocket for her pistol.

“Where are you going?” April asks.

“Back home for a little while. I want to find better books, and it’ll be nice to wash up and change clothes in the privacy of our new home. I’ll be back later, mom.” Augustine assures her.

“Alright.”

Leaving her mother and Grey, Augustine passes by Dr. Shaw in the doorway, who returns to change Grey’s bandage and check his vital signs once again. After discovering nothing surprising, he removes the stethoscope from his ears.

“His fever is going down... After today, I think I’ll let his anesthetic wear off.”

“So, he’ll wake up?!” April asks with a wide grin.

“Yeah.” He nods.

“Great!”

“Indeed. He’s healing well.”

“Doc!” A voice from the hall calls out.

Rising from her chair, April watches Dr. Shaw poking his head outside. Racing up to the door is an out of breath Tyson.

“Doc, we need you right away! Is April still here?” He asks.

“What’s wrong?” April asks as she walks swiftly around Grey’s bed. “Is Augustine alright?!”

“She’s fine. We just had an accident at the old windmills.” He answers.

“Fuck.” April growls.

“Can you both come?”

Looking over her shoulder, April pauses to stare at Grey.

“Alright...” She sighs.

“I’ll grab my travel kit.” Dr. Shaw remarks.

Leaving the clinic, they head for the main lobby. Finding Havana sitting at a desk and reading an anatomy book, April races up to her.

“We have to leave for now, but I want you to watch Grey for me.” April instructs.

“Sure!” Havana chirps.

“I’ll be back as soon as I can.”

Racing through the front door and down the street, a grinning Havana sets her book aside. Rising from her seat, the busty mouse Voeldahn walks casually down the hall, her long, platinum blonde hair swaying; her furless, whip-like tail swishes with each graceful step. Looking through the opened doorway, Havana’s pink eyes land on the sleeping human, her lips curling around her snout as she steps inside. Taking a seat in a rolling stool near the bed, she scoots closer.

“Damn, you humans are so cute...” She murmurs, eyeing him slowly.

She reaches out, resting a clawed hand on his stomach. Coiling her fingers, she gently scratches his soft flesh. She can’t help but notice how pale his skin is, compared to the pink flesh of her hand. Just to see, she rests her arm over him. The sunlight bounces off her shiny, white fur, which is certainly lighter than his skin. Still, she admires the contrast of their colors. Her pink eyes scan the human's toned body. Her opaque claws softly scratch his skin again as her body trembles. How she loves the feeling of human men. If April wasn’t always around, she’d have visited him sooner; she’d thought about it often.

Turning her head, Havana opens her mouth as she takes a deep breath. She softly bites her bottom lip as her fleshy, tapering tail swishes gleefully from side to side; Grey hasn't even flinched. Remembering how they'd flirted in the past, the albino mouse Voeldahn turns her soft eyes toward Grey's crotch. Had they spent more than five minutes speaking, she’s certain she would’ve had him stuffed into one of her orifices, imagining one in particular. Reaching out a hand, she rests it atop his pants. Giving him a squeeze, she gasps and pulls her hand away. She'd seen Quaid naked before, unintentionally and with little interest; she has her preferences.

However, the memory of the horse Voeldahn's flaccid organ seems a good match to what she felt in Grey's pants. Havana's lips curl around her snout, forming a sinister grin. She turns her eyes once again to Grey, who still hasn't moved. The fever and the medication they've used on him has him in a deep sleep. Glancing over her shoulder, she wonders how long she’ll be left alone with him. Rising from her stool, she walks toward the door and peeks outside, looking left and right down the hall. No one is around; they are the only two in the building, which echoes quite loudly. She swiftly returns to Grey’s side.

Carefully inserting her fingers behind the elastic waistband of his pants, Havana slides them down. She pauses to stare at his impressive member, marveling at the organ that lay to one side and running along one of his legs. Without thinking, she reaches out and grips the hot flesh, rubbing his tip with her thumb and giving his soft shaft a few strokes. Grey stirs, but he doesn’t wake up. Watching him for a moment, he turns his head slowly to one side, his breathing swift but unchanged. Her loins burn and grow moist, and before she knows what's happening, she's bent over; she sniffs his member, sighing with pleasure at his masculine musk.

Losing control and emboldened by the situation, she stuffs him into her mouth. Tasting his flesh, which she finds exceptionally pleasing, she feels him stirring once again. Havana pauses, shifting her eyes and gently turning her head. He doesn't open his eyes, but he murmurs something incoherent.

“Mmm... Mah-...” He mumbles.

Swirling her tongue around the tip, mostly as a test, Havana suddenly notices something else. Responding to the stimulation, Grey's member begins to harden. Taking her lips from his flesh, she reaches a hand down, slipping it into her tightly fitting, black shorts. With one hand stroking his swiftly erecting phallus and the other rubbing her loins, she has a devious thought. Slipping a finger into her vagina, she wonders how swiftly he would awaken, if at all, if she went even further. She gulps, contemplating her twisted thoughts.

“Hey... Grey?” She gently shakes him. “Grey? Can you hear me?”

“...”

“Good.”

A familiar sensation disturbs Grey, his vision blurring. He dreams of a sudden and blinding light that reveals little, though the feeling intensifies. As the light subsides, he finds himself lying on his back in a field, similar to one he’d spent many nights in as a child. Looking down in shock, Grey watches as Havana vigorously fellates him. Why would he be dreaming of Havana so soon after Monica’s death? Why would he dream about her at all? He wouldn’t ever deny being attracted to the buxom albino mouse Voeldahn, whom he met once. While she left an impression, and he can still recall her form, he’s never dreamt of her before.

Only Monica, and on several occasions, April, have visited him in the night. Havana licks his shaft and the head of his member, leaving not one millimeter of flesh untasted. His vision blurs and the dream turns black, only to return with another blinding flash. Again, he’s looking down as Havana straddles his pelvis while he lay in the field, grinding the flesh of her loins against the underside of his endowment. Her black shorts have disappeared. Yanking off her matching black t-shirt, the mouse girl reveals the massive orbs of her chest, cutely pinching the pink flesh of her nipples. The dream fades yet again.

Feeling a warmth and tightness that's very familiar to him, his dream returns. How persistent must his fantasy be? With her hands on his chest, Havana gasps and pants as she rides him, her legs bent at the knees with her shins alongside his thighs. Up and down she bounces before a clear stream of female fluids gush from her loins as she visibly orgasms. Her vicelike vaginal canal pulls his pleasure like a vacuum. She gasps, throwing her head back and squealing as she feels his release flooding into her. His dream finally ends.

“Havana. Hey, Havana! Havana? Are you here?” Dr. Shaw calls out.

Entering Grey’s room, he finds the human still asleep in his bed, while Havana is nearby and sprawled out in a chair, her head tilted back and snout pointed at the ceiling.

“Havana!” He calls out again.

“Mmm-yeah?” She slowly opens her eyes, turning her head toward him.

“Were you sleeping?” He raises a brow.

“Yeah, I guess I was.” She says with a sigh.

“Are you tired or something?”

“A little.” She grins.

“Okay, well... You can head home if you’d like.”

“Sure. Thanks, Doc.”

Dr. Shaw watches with curiosity as Havana seems to struggle to rise from the chair. She moves as if her legs or back are sore, though she doesn’t sound pained, or have a similar expression. She steps carefully away from the chair, a slight wobble in her step.

“Are you alright?”

“Oh, yeah!” She chirps. “What happened, anyway?”

“Oh, some guy nearly broke his arm when a ladder on one of the windmills snapped.”

“Those are as tall as April’s tower!” Havana exclaims.

“Taller, but thankfully the ladder broke relatively close to the ground. April’s having a crew examine the windmills before they keep going, but the solar farm is still viable. With any luck, we’ll have some lights on in here soon!”

“Are they bright?” Havana asks.

Dr. Shaw chuckles, a little smile on his face as he looks at the young woman.

“What?”

“Sometimes I forget what era you’re from.” He answers. “Thankfully, it won’t be dark for much longer.”
