This was one of my most challenging and rewarding poems to write, as I wanted 144 syllables; the poem is actually a simple math equation.\nI'll also state outright that while I imagined Cthulhu as the beast in the fog, I couldn't help but throw in my own commentary. The entire poem is a subtle stab at the cult of Marxist/leftist ideology that seems to be in vogue.","content":"Cthulhu's Grasp\u0026nbsp;\n\n(07/30/2019)\n\nFleeing from a monstrous beast,  \nI must escape, lest be deceased,  \nRunning through a field of fog,  \nMy progress slowed by thickened bog,  \n  \nPanicking as darkness looms,  \nA feeling of impending doom,  \nI am trapped within a maze,  \nConstructed from horrendous haze,\n\nI have brought this on myself,  \nRead from the book on ancient shelf,  \nNow I'm lost in darkened mist,  \nAnd with the vile I am amidst,  \n  \nBlinding smoke does push and pull,  \nWith hostile thoughts and voices full,  \nNow the beast is creeping near,  \nFall to my knees, succumb to fear,  \n  \nTurn to look, I freeze in shock,  \nMuscles stuck like a rusted lock,  \nFetid mist slowly unwinds,  \nTentacles creeping like a vine,  \n  \nThey slither within arm's length,  \nAnd take ahold with immense strength,  \nWith their touch my mind is torn,  \nI'm fused to what was never born,  \n  \nNothing known can dull this pain,  \nIt eats away, driven insane,  \nSwiftly I have lost my mind,  \nI've now become one of his kind,  \n  \nTwisted form melts into mist,  \nMy spirit bursts like putrid cyst,  \nFollow him into abyss,  \nThe old world I no longer miss,\n\n  \n\nBlindly serve the mind of hive,  \nGreat old one now keeps me alive,   \nIn his machine I'm but a cog,  \nEver constructing infernal fog.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poetry","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1442418-shapely-cow.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1480531-choke.json"}}
