{"sf1_id":1499336,"sf2_id":"RnoG9gvn","title":"Heart of the Winter","author":"The_Peoples_Vince_Offer","words":320,"posted_at":"2019-10-11T20:44:00.000Z","tags":["Poem","Poetry","free verse"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1499336-heart-of-the-winter","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/RnoG9gvn","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/ad/0e/ad0eb57f-2a27-4305-b854-be1b6c8f4a55","description":"A poem I started a while ago, but took longer than it should have due to lack of drive to finish T_T\nwell, it's finally done","content":"The snow falls descend over Herod Point\n\nAs I watch with a sober placid eye\n\nFor in my heart, I feel an emotion rise up\n\nA strange warmth\n\nThat is so special\n\nOnly certain things that I hold dear can cause it\n\nFrom my heart into my head\n\nAnd into the rest of my body\n\nAs my body could tell that quite clearly\n\nWinter has finally come\n\nThe joyous season has arrived\n\nAnd a strange, empty, desolate feeling of comfort I revel in\n\nEngulfs my within\n\nFilling my insides with that amazing feeling\n\nA gentle breeze blows about me\n\nReminding me that it is always far less cold when the snow fell\n\nIt wraps a smooth, cold hand about me\n\nThat completes the feeling\n\nThe feeling that clearly speaks of winter\n\nAnd I take a deep breath in\n\nAnd feel the ice-cold air inside of me\n\nReminding me of the winter air I'd huff\n\nWandering about Manhattan back in my childhood\n\nDuring the winter holidays\n\nUp, and down the chaotic city streets\n\nAlthough the air is purer here\n\nNot of smoke, and the food carts that lined the city streets\n\nBut of sweet, salty ocean spray\n\nThat blew off the waves around here\n\nInto my lungs\n\nAnd I watch as my breath condense\n\nIf I exhale through my mouth\n\nLooking like smoke\n\nFrom a cigarette that wasn't there\n\nAnd I sit on the shore,\n\nWatching the cloudy, grey sky become blue\n\nThat signalled the fall of the early evening\n\nAs the light faded out\n\nThe dimming a signal to turn on the room lights at home\n\nAnd I see myself do so later back at home\n\nAs I continue watching the dusk fall from my room\n\nAnd I think to myself\n\nAbout this feeling\n\nThat only comes to me this time of year\n\nA feeling that can only describe\n\nStill yet clearly describes\n\nThat this is the season of winter\n\n  \n  \n\n"}
