#168 of Short Stories

A wolf listens to a job offer from a fennec, over potatoes.

~ The wolf gazed down at the table laid out between himself and the fennec. A bowl of what looked to be baked potatoes to one side, a jar of apple butter to spread on them in the other. Several shakers of seasoning, flavors he'd want to try even without the pangs in his belly.
~ Glancing up to the fennec, "..and this job you say. No one needs to die?"
~ The fennec slid a plate towards the wolf, a fork resting across the empty of it.
~ "None that'll know you're the who what done it.", adding a knife to rest alongside.
~ After a moment that felt all the longer for his hunger, the wolf nodded meekly as he took up the fork and knife.
