Chapter 18: &nbsp; life&nbsp; **by&nbsp; a thread, Alex's&nbsp; truth&nbsp; revealed&nbsp;**

**Alex awoke&nbsp; a&nbsp; few&nbsp; days&nbsp; later inn&nbsp; the&nbsp; hospital's ICU&nbsp; , the&nbsp; beepping&nbsp; of&nbsp; machines&nbsp; all around&nbsp; him, the&nbsp; scent&nbsp; of&nbsp; disinfectant filling&nbsp; his &nbsp; &nbsp; nose. Roen&nbsp; sat&nbsp; next&nbsp; to&nbsp; his&nbsp; bedside, Connor&nbsp; beside Roen. Roen&nbsp; sighed wondering&nbsp; how Jonathan&nbsp; could&nbsp; be&nbsp; such&nbsp; a&nbsp; bastard, he&nbsp; had&nbsp; always&nbsp; talked&nbsp; &nbsp; big &nbsp;** , He had&nbsp; beat&nbsp; the&nbsp; shit&nbsp; out&nbsp; of&nbsp; ROen and&nbsp; Connor&nbsp; . Jonathan&nbsp; had received a mear&nbsp; slap&nbsp; on the&nbsp; wrist, with&nbsp; his&nbsp; father&nbsp; being &nbsp; on the&nbsp; Police force.&nbsp;

"That&nbsp; you&nbsp; hun?" Alex&nbsp; asked , for&nbsp; some&nbsp; reason&nbsp; not&nbsp; being&nbsp; able&nbsp; to&nbsp; see&nbsp; Roe by&nbsp; his&nbsp; bedside.

"Yeah , its&nbsp; me&nbsp; and&nbsp; Connor, darling." I&nbsp; replied&nbsp; back reaching&nbsp; my&nbsp; hand&nbsp; out grabbing&nbsp; Alex's. "Can't&nbsp; see&nbsp; anything..." Alex started, "Well&nbsp; how&nbsp; do&nbsp; you&nbsp; think&nbsp; I&nbsp; feel, since&nbsp; I can't&nbsp; see&nbsp; your&nbsp; handsome&nbsp; face&nbsp; daily." I replied&nbsp; back&nbsp; trying&nbsp; to&nbsp; make a&nbsp; joke&nbsp; of&nbsp; ALex's&nbsp; situation.&nbsp; I wasn't&nbsp; sure&nbsp; of the&nbsp; full&nbsp; situation with&nbsp; ALex&nbsp; but&nbsp; making&nbsp; light&nbsp; of&nbsp; it&nbsp; would&nbsp; help me, unless&nbsp; I went&nbsp; out&nbsp; and&nbsp; Find&nbsp; Jonathan&nbsp; and&nbsp; his&nbsp; asshole friends.

&nbsp;knock&nbsp; came&nbsp; &nbsp; at the&nbsp; door&nbsp; the&nbsp; Doctor&nbsp; walking&nbsp; in a second&nbsp; after. "Hello there Mr. Sage, I see your awake. That's&nbsp; good

He&nbsp; came&nbsp; closer to&nbsp; Alex's&nbsp; bedside,&nbsp; going&nbsp; through&nbsp; papers&nbsp; as he&nbsp; went. "Looks like&nbsp; you&nbsp; have&nbsp; a&nbsp; mild scarring in both eyes,though looks like&nbsp; your already 20 over 800 ." Hesaid&nbsp; continuing&nbsp; to look&nbsp; through&nbsp; his&nbsp; papers., talking&nbsp; to&nbsp; himself and&nbsp; to&nbsp; Alex.

"So I've&nbsp; lost more&nbsp; vision, huh?Alex&nbsp; asked, seeming to&nbsp; be&nbsp; really&nbsp; calm from the&nbsp; news. " "Wait, what&nbsp; your&nbsp; blind ALex? Really?" I asked&nbsp; in disbelif. "Yeah, I was&nbsp; 20/200&nbsp; since&nbsp; forever, just&nbsp; really&nbsp; never&nbsp; used any blindness&nbsp; or&nbsp; low&nbsp; vision stuff." He admitted

This&nbsp; was&nbsp; news&nbsp; to me my&nbsp; mind&nbsp; was&nbsp; blown!&nbsp;

"The&nbsp; slivers and shards did&nbsp; cut&nbsp; through&nbsp; your&nbsp; eyes, we&nbsp; did manage to&nbsp; remove them all." The&nbsp; doctor finished , closing&nbsp; the&nbsp; folder&nbsp; and&nbsp; leaving the&nbsp; room, his&nbsp; parents&nbsp; entering as the&nbsp; Doctor&nbsp; left.

"Alex!" came&nbsp; a&nbsp; sob &nbsp; from&nbsp; Alex's&nbsp; mom, her&nbsp; crashing&nbsp; hug&nbsp; wrapping&nbsp; around&nbsp; Alex&nbsp; sitting up&nbsp; in the bed.

" "Son...." Came&nbsp; another&nbsp; voice that&nbsp; was&nbsp; familiar,&nbsp; the&nbsp; man&nbsp; coming&nbsp; in&nbsp; after&nbsp; Alex's&nbsp; mom. Alex's dad&nbsp; joining &nbsp; his&nbsp; wife&nbsp; and son&nbsp; at&nbsp; the&nbsp; bedside.
