The baking pan, now somehow tarnished to a soft blue tint from the heat, bore a dozen objects that she'd hoped would become cookies during their time therein.  \n~\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp; More than half of them were now crunched and burnt, cracks cutting deeply across their widths to spread into branching lacerations.  \n~\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp; Most of the remaining half appeared to have, by some unknown and arcane mechanism, melted.  \n~\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp; Amidst the sea of failed bakery, a single cookie appeared to have formed from dough.
