{"sf1_id":1557774,"sf2_id":"ynZlX0ke","title":"Eulogy to the Great King","author":"sonious","words":259,"posted_at":"2020-03-13T04:07:00.000Z","tags":["King","Poem"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1557774-eulogy-to-the-great-king","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/ynZlX0ke","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/c3/94/c3946828-5033-4b3f-887e-aea9851ce7bf","description":"","content":"The witches prophesied to the great king\n\nThat one day he'd wear power's ring\n\nHowever his time would be cut short\n\nBy a creature from a far off port\n\n  \n\nThe king thanked the gaggle\n\nBut he was known to haggle\n\nWhen the day came to take that throne\n\nHe would rely on his nation alone\n\n  \n\nBefore his time the kingdoms all traded\n\nBut when he took hold that luxury faded\n\n\"Those far off ports, have sold our country short\n\nI shall push these tariffs through the court.\"\n\n  \n\nDaggered words exchanged, tempered and rude\n\nRetaliatory fees dropped upon the king's grown food\n\nThe nations crops, left to rot\n\nIt was this action that began the plot\n\n  \n\nThe prosperous kingdom's bounty of rations\n\nNow cost too much for the far off nations\n\nIn desperate need they looked inward\n\nAnd started farming in ways absurd\n\n  \n\nTheir own animals reared and bred\n\nA petri\u0026nbsp;dish in which the creature fed\n\nThe tariffs demand that more be produced\n\nA sinking hourglass for denizens reduced\n\n  \n\nThe tiny creature released and spread\n\nSilently moving from sted to sted\n\nFrom animal to man, then man to man\n\nThe fear of its spread began to fan\n\n  \n\nNot my problem, the great king claimed\n\nWere not his people who were lamed\n\n\"Young people fear not\", he said so bold\n\nThe virus only takes the infirm and old\n\n  \n\nThe creature took hold, lungs asphyxiated\n\nStill unaware it was by his own hand he was fated.\n\nThe great king died, and thus showed the nation\n\nThat ignorance of the world is self-assassination\n\n  \n  \n\n"}
