{"sf1_id":1611833,"sf2_id":"B1QqOlV1","title":"Waves","author":"Patcher","words":265,"posted_at":"2020-08-04T05:48:00.000Z","tags":["Poem","Poetry"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1611833-waves","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/B1QqOlV1","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/d4/0d/d40d0004-cdc6-430e-8267-0ea209b74eeb","description":"#2 of Poetry\n\nIn a decade, so much has changed.","content":"Up\n\nUp\n\nThe cliffside I ran, until I was out of breath\n\nThat summer when the world was but a little town -\n\nAnd you, a giant\n\n- Waiting for me by the waves\n\nI could never reach the mountain's peak -\n\nI was never strong,\n\nThough my legs could walk for aeons,\n\nNo wind would join to help with the heavy lifting\n\n- Yet I climbed quite far\n\nAnd almost touched the sky\n\nAlmost\n\nUp\n\nUp\n\nYet down below,\n\nI could hear the waves as they ground the world to glass and stardust\n\nAnd I could see\n\nYou\n\nAs you towered over the ocean -\n\nNot a prince, like the charmed ones from the childhood tales,\n\nBut more\n\n- A king, who by\n\nRoyal decree\n\nHad commanded the heavens to part\n\nUp\n\nUp\n\nThe clouds went ever onwards\n\nAnd though I ran alone\n\nYou watched\n\nWaited -\n\nWithered\n\n- For me to touch -\n\nThe stars I could not ever reach,\n\n- The skies, though you gave them to me\n\nI could not see for the sun that blinded\n\nAnd burnt my aeons to ash\n\nUp\n\nUp\n\nI fell until the waves came rolling with me\n\nIn pieces\n\nI never knew them to be so cool\n\nYet even now -\n\nA decade past\n\n- I see the sky\n\nDown here where the dawn could never reach me\n\nYou're gone\n\nThough your shadow still towers\n\nAnd on your fingertips\n\nI sometimes sleep\n\nHere\n\nAmongst the denizens of the deep\n\nDowntrodden -\n\nDrowned\n\n- In these hallowed ruins of a cliffside\n\nNow dust amongst the stars\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poetry","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1610703-glass.json"}}
