My name is Jacob. I was once a normal 18 year old going about his normal life. That's when I met him.

It all started while I was walking around Fryeburg while with my friends Mike and Scott. Scott was one of my oldest friends. He was a 19 year old golden retriever we've been friends since 6th grade. Mike is my second oldest friend, he's an 18 year old bat I met him soon after meeting Scott.

"So guy's what do you want to do?" Scott said in complete boredom "We could go swimming?"

"That involves effort to walk all the way to Weston's beach." Mike said with a yawn, clearly he didn't get enough sleep "Why would I want to do that?" Typical Mike never wants to put effort into anything.

"Perhaps we could grab a couple two liters of soda and get a ride to my place so we can play Xbox?" Trying to appeal to both friends hopefully it would work; my only reply was a lengthy silence. "Well?" They took a moment and looked at one another then nodded in agreement. "Alright off to Irving!"

As we walked down the side walk towards the store I accidentally bumped into someone. He was wearing a long black coat, the hood covered his face.

"Sorry about that." I bowed my head respectfully to the person I had run into.
"It's fine." He said with a smile. We continued on our way but there was something weird happening I heard what I thought was an incantation. "Let us be alone in darkness drown out all others."
It was the stranger but that's when it hit me. The world seemed to fade away; the sounds where gone along with the surroundings. I was in a state of shock until I felt a paw on my shoulder; I jumped back poised to defend myself.

"Who are you?" I ordered. The stranger just stood and silence, the silence was broken buy a soft laughter but even that stopped and he stared.

"You really don't remember me do you?" He lifted the hood up and revealed his face. He was a tan fox he must have been six feet tall.

"It's me Cedric." He still had the air of suspicion around him.

"I don't know any Cedric!" I said with distain "What have you done with my friends?" The man known as Cedric seemed to be confused.

"Your friends are fine but I need to tell you something before I let you go to them."

"And what might that be?" I was still suspicious about him.

"I am your guardian. I will explain more later ok?"

"Fine just let me be with my friends now." Cedric nodded as he pulled his hood up and walked into the darkness.
A few seconds later the world returned from the darkness that had enveloped it.

This is when my life changed for the better and the worse.
