Only something funny, something odd keeps happening.","content":"The Observation\u0026nbsp;Effect. \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;By GeneseePaws  \n  \n  \n  \nThis Week's Writing Challenge: \"There just aren't enough days in the hour.\"  \n  \n  \n_Meanwhile, On Wednesday, in the first week of April at **2:03 pm.** _   \n  \n\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\"Gail, go ahead and try it,\" Major Davis called.  \n\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;Gail shook her head.  \n\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\"Nothing? ...\u0026nbsp;Damn it, gang! \u0026nbsp;Why is it -still- not working! \u0026nbsp; Crap,\u0026nbsp;unplug it, I'll go back inside and check what isn't working? I don't know.\"  \n\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;A little while later the techs heard, \"OK, I'm clear, try it again.\"  \n  \n\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;The machine made a rising whine, then a Zzzzowwwwwuuuhhh-puhh. Then silence.  \n  \n\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\"Shit! I dunno, Gail, what happened?\" the Major ordered, \"Jase, get\u0026nbsp;a Tech in here to take a reading. Maybe the magnetic field is not as strong as we need, we built it as it is shown, ... see, here? I mean,\u0026nbsp;it matches the equations.\"  \n\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;There was an echoing voice,\u0026nbsp;sounding\u0026nbsp;like it was inside the machine. \"Transistors,\" was all it said.  \n\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\"Appilat, Major\u0026nbsp;Davis sputtered, \"Replace that board with the transistors. I want all of them changed out.\"  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;  \n  \n  \nAt **2:15 pm**  \n\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;Gail heard someone speaking, sounding like they were inside the machine.  \n\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\"Hello? Is someone here? Appilat?\" she asked.  \n\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;A voice, echoed from inside the machine,\u0026nbsp;\"Oh, thank god, you're still working\u0026nbsp;tonight. It\u0026nbsp;its\u0026nbsp;night, already right? Listen I don't have time to explain everything but you need to stop working on the device, right\u0026nbsp;now. Don't power it up whatever you do, Oh, Shit, is it plugged in? Unplug it now!! I'm still working on it. I don't wanna get fried. Ooooop, gotta go. Who's there? \u0026nbsp;App? Jimmy? \u0026nbsp;Anyone there?\" Gail looked inside the machine, seeing no one.  \n\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\"... Hunh, I wonder who was playing tricks?\" Gail muttered as she pushed the\u0026nbsp; plug\u0026nbsp;back in.  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nAt **2:35 pm**.   \n\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;The crew came back from their coffee break.  \n\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;Jase was still speaking, \"What's wrong with it? I dunno what's wrong with it, so don't ask me! Maybe the transistors are burning out. We gotta test 'em. \u0026nbsp;Appilat, I want a tech in here, as of one hour\u0026nbsp;ago, go get a tech, ASAP!  \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;  \n  \n  \nAt **2:39 pm.** \u0026nbsp;  \n\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;At 2:38 pm, a Tech had\u0026nbsp;confirmed that all the transistors on the board were working.  \n\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\"O.k. Gail, try it now. Still nothing? Damn. I thought we had it. Maybe if we lowered\u0026nbsp;the value of the resistors, the tank circuit would give us the frequency\u0026nbsp;we need! \u0026nbsp;Damn it, where're\u0026nbsp;my notes? \u0026nbsp;Appilat, have you seen my notes?\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;I put them down, right here. ...And now they're gone... A year Later** \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;  \n\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\"I'm not going to touch anything, I'm telling you,\" Appilat began, \"I\u0026nbsp;know what I'm doing.
