{"sf1_id":171272,"sf2_id":"JewYYObn","title":"The Journey of Hope","author":"Looksfar","words":334,"posted_at":"2010-08-21T22:26:00.000Z","tags":["Anubis","Poetry","Wepwawet"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/171272-the-journey-of-hope","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/JewYYObn","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/df/fd/dffd4727-a959-4823-849c-d6f5cb8b191a","description":"","content":"We walk the endless miles of the ever growing desert\n\nOur homeland of a thousand generations lay in dust behind us\n\nThe countless dreams and graves of our ancestors a distant fading memory\n\nBut we walk the vast grim wasteland in hope\n\nFor even we have heard the legends of the fertile river valley just over the next dune\n\nAfter years of the death of my people I once again take the lead\n\nFor I sense the end to our harrowing journey\n\nUsing the last of my might I divine our future home and point the way\n\nWe come upon fertile soil and lush vegetation surrounding a powerful and clear river\n\nWe are home and it is everything we dreamed\n\nBut one last obstacle lays before us\n\nOur new home is not empty\n\nWe are silently greeted by a fierce warrior people\n\nThe one who leads them the most fierce of all\n\nHe is like I, but strong where I am weak\n\nWe are not warriors\n\nWe have no hope, no chance... but one\n\nI walk forward to meet this one like I\n\nMy people tremble behind me, all their hopes lay on my shoulders\n\nI stand face to face, eye to eye with this powerful silent one\n\nI am weak, I am afraid but I step forward, fall to my knees and offer my throat\n\nMy last hope, our last hope\n\nMy people shriek in terror as the fierce one leaps upon me and closes his jaws around my offering biting down firmly\n\nI await the expected pain and death but only a single drop of blood is shed from my throat\n\nI look up into the eyes of the great warrior\n\nOnly then do I see the desperation in his eyes fading into relief\n\nMy people cheer as I take the offered hand and am pulled into his embrace\n\nClinging to my new ally tightly I sob into his white fur\n\nI have not failed, we have not failed\n\nWe are home\n\n  \n  \n\n"}
