Rising Anew -Chapter 11, Family and Learning, cont.-

"What do you know about these two, Marcerous?" came a menacing hiss

from the dark shadows in his cave.

"They are full blood Necromanta, that smell.. oh it was so sweet!

like his mother's, the boy, he has a vicious tenacity, it will be so

delicious to crush." replied the malicious hybrid's voice from across the

dark chamber. A silent rustling sound made its way across the cavern floor

and around Marcerous.

"I want vengeance for what they did to my children, i want them

to... DIIIIEEEEE!!!!!" The cavern echoed with the hissing exclamation as a

large golden snake's head shot into Marcerous's vision.

                \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*

Tarsus bobbed quietly through the library that Purrma had brought

her to with Narcenac and Narina. She rubbed her little fingers over the

backs of the books as she walked, looking at the ones she thought were

pretty. The only book she had ever seen were magazenes that had happened to

blow into her clan's grove. She had always liked the pictures in them, with

all of the pretty dresses and shiny baubles, but she didnt know what the

little markings were. Then she saw it.

Standing before the young squirrel was a mountain of books, stacked

high, and at the top, a little shiny ball. Without a second thought, she

shot to the stack and grabbed a chair. Giggling, she jumped and reached for

the ball, only going about 3/4ths the way up the stack. After a few jumps,

she stopped and frowned, then started to try climbing the books, she was

determined to have that ball.

Narina was walking back to the table Purrma, Papaw, and Narcenac

were sitting at with a glass of water when she noticed Tarsus climbing the

stack of books. She set the glass down on a shelf and started running

toward the girl quickly. "Tarsus noooo!"

With a final grunt, Tarsus touched the shiny ball just as the stack

lost stability and came crashing down, with her on it.

Narcenac and the two elder tigers came running through the shelfs to

see what the ruckus was. Narina was standing at the edge of the mess

shaking her head as she helped the little squirrel out of the heap of books.

"You should have known better Tarsus..." she said as she stood back.

"I.. i sowwy... I wanna have shiny ball, try jump, no reached it, so

climb, then boom, crash, i fall onna books..." Tarsus replied.

"Purrma smiled and picked up the small trinket. "Well little one,

was this little ball worth so much trouble?"

Tarsus shook her head slowly and stared at the floor.

"I tell you what child, if you clean and organize all of these

books, put them back in their stack properly, i will give you this shiny

ball." Purrma said softly, instantly recieving an enthusiastic ear perk from

Tarsus.

"Yessum, i do it quicken, you not believe it done fast!" she

squeeked, and instantly started darting around the pile, picking up the

books. This just caused the tigers to all fall into a fit of laughing as

they walked back to their table.
                \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*

They had been sitting at the table for nearly 2 hours, Purrma and

Papaw had given them one book after another, all to explain their history.

"So why did the Necromanta move to this country, Were they not happy

in the old country?" Narina asked curiously.

"In the old country we were regarded as a myth, to some as deities,

yet some people there wanted to know if there was more than just a myth,

and when humans find their myths are reality, they realize that they can try

to control it." Papaw answered. "We left to remain a myth, a family stayed

behind, determined to control the lands we held, this is the family from

which Narina was born, her mother, she did not believe in the ways of the

family and left to come here."

"So... what are we?" Narcenac questioned silently. "Are we demons,

angels, or just mutations?"

Purrma shook her head slowly. "No my dear, we have been in this

world for as long as humans have, but it was decided long ago that humans

were too dangerous to face without either battling, or being eradicated

ourselves, so we stay silent, found a way to hide among humans through our

ability to change forms into humans for some time, now many are born human

in form and revert to our natural forms after so long."

"To answer your question son, We are simply another species that has

evolved, or been created on this planet, if we are demons or angels, it is

only in the imagination of humans." Papaw replied.

"So.. Why are Narcenac and i different?" Narina quieried.

"You and Narcenac are pure Necromanta, you will not shift back to

your human forms, nor i think, should you, you are stronger, faster, and

have better senses then most of us, in other words, you are physically more

perfect than others." Papaw said with a gentle smile. "Now tell me, what

did you have the most trouble dealing with when you changed?"

"The paws!" both young tigers chimed together. They looked to one

another and smiled, purring loudly.

"I DID BOOKS FOR PURRMA TIGER!!!" Came Tarsus's cry of triumph

followed by a squeek and an "oops".

Purrma struggled to maintain her composure as the little squirrel

came sneaking through an asle in the library towards them. This proved to

be too much for the matronly tigress and the entire group burst into

laughter as she snorted and laughed.
