This being had her directly in view and seemed to concentrate only on her.
"Well, you wait... whatever you are..." thought Varshgar who now took the bow from his back and drew an arrow from the quiver. He put the arrow on and took a slow, deep breath. Varshgar aimed the arrow at the left eye of the monster that slowly crawled out of the cave.
Meanwhile, the other lizard creatures slowly retreated, receding more and more from the fire. Once again he took a deep breath and held it. When he had a safe angle, he let go of the string and the arrow flew towards its target. The monster that had just crawled a little further out now revealed more and more its grotesque shape. It had scales like a lizard but at the same time a lot of fur on its body. Long feathers grew on the head of this monster and its teeth were gigantic. One could well imagine that it could hunt with any imaginable prey.
The monster took another step forward and was just opening its mouth when Varshgar's arrow hit the monster's eye. Struck and shrieking, it sank to the ground. It quickly put its left paw on the eye and Varshgar ran.

Adriana was still sitting in that cage, trying to get free.
"Whoever did this bought me time!" she thought.
Now the lizardmen were also in an uproar and ran around crosswise in the camp. They were now searching for the troublemaker who had interrupted the feast of their god. But Varshgar was already on his way to Adriana's cage. She sensed her chance when one of the lizard creatures visibly ran past the cage in excitement. Quick-witted, she grabbed the lizard by the collar and dragged him towards the cage. With one blow, she knocked the lizard out and grabbed the primitive sword from its scabbard.
"Not quite stable, but it should work!" she thought to herself.
Now she began to hit the rope, but it took damage only slowly. In the meantime, the monster had almost recovered from the attack and was now, once again, looking at its prey. Adriana noticed it at the moment when there was a big snout at the cage from behind.
>>Ah!<< she let out a gasp, but then she grabbed the sword and stabbed the monster in his upper jaw, which he had just bared.
The blade stuck in it, but the monster retreated. At that moment Varshgar jumped off the roof of a hut and shot the next arrow. The arrow was again aimed at the eye and hit the monster for the second time.
Now the monster retreated even further, more and more towards the cave. Varshgar, who now saw his chance, jumped down from the roof and landed in front of Adriana's cage.

>>Are you okay?<< he asked, stowing the bow back on his back.
Adriana wheeled around and fixed her gaze on Varshgar.
>>Varshgar! Thank you for being here!<< she said.
In the meantime, he had put his left paw on the cage and shredded the door with his right.
>>Come on now, let's get out of here while we still can!<< he said, reaching out his right paw for her.
Adriana nodded and grabbed his paw, but from behind the monster came shooting out of the cave again. It was furious with rage and totally mad at the two. The lizard creatures, which had still been at the edge of the camp, had now run away.
>>They won't help us, I'm afraid.<< Varshgar said with a wry grin.
>>We'll have to do that ourselves, I guess...<< said Adriana and grabbed Varshgar's arm. He quickly pulled Adriana out of the cage and jumped onto a neighboring hut with her on his back.
The monster had raised its paw and leveled the cage, behind them, to the ground.
>>That was a bit close!<< Varshgar said, landing on his feet, on the roof.
Now the two looked behind them at the monster. Slowly it crawled further out of the cave and built itself up in front of the two.

>>This thing is even more enormous than one could have imagined!<< Varshgar let out a surprised gasp.
Have you ever seen anything like this before?<< Adriana asked excitedly at the sight that presented itself to her.
>>No! And I could well have done without it! Watch out!<< Varshgar roared and grabbed Adriana. The monster had started to attack again and now dashed forward with its paw. With one blow it had totally destroyed the hut and only a ruin of straw, wood and clay remained.
>>Man man man... This thing is really starting to piss me off!<< said Varshgar.
Again he landed on a neighboring house and looked around.
>>Can you fight?<< he asked Adriana.
>>Sure! But I need my daggers!<<
Varshgar nodded and held out the daggers to Adriana.
>>Here! I found them in the forest. Thought you would miss them!<< he grinned and then pressed them into her hand.
>>Thank you, Varshgar!<<
She took the two daggers in her hand and immediately felt the familiarity of her weapons again. As before, they lay well in her hand, and immediately she was ready to fight.

>>How should we proceed?<< asked Adriana.
>>We improvise until we find a weak spot!<< Varshgar said, taking the bow from his back.
But again came the next attack. Varshgar jumped to the side and landed on the ground. Adriana, on the other hand, shot forward and ran over the arm of the beast.
>>Wow! She is fast! So damn fast!<< said Varshgar.
He had, in the meantime, taken an arrow from the quiver and put it on. The wolf was relaxed and focused on his target.
"In a minute..." he thought to himself and took a deep breath.
The monster meanwhile tried to get Adriana off its arm, but she was able to dodge its blows until she was almost near its mouth. It opened its mouth and tried to snap, but Adriana jumped into the air and onto the monster's head.
"The scales seem very hard up here..." she considered for a moment.
But then she had an idea. She jumped down onto its nose and ran up to its eyes. Before she could reach them, the monster wiped his face with his paws, but Adriana managed to avoid this attack.

When the paws disappeared before his eyes again, Varshgar's arrow suddenly struck. It pierced the monster's left eye, and it began to shriek in pain and anger. Due to the pain, it had closed the left eye, but Adriana did not let it stop her because she now sensed her big chance. Immediately she jumped down again and landed directly in front of the eye. Without hesitation, she rammed both daggers into the eye. Now the monster screeched even more and flinched back. With a leap backwards, the monster made off a little and thus put some distance between the two.
"She's got some moves!" thought Varshgar to himself.
The monster nagged and flapped its paws again and again, although neither of the two was near. Slowly it retreated a bit further and looked at the two. Varshgar had made his way back to Adriana and was now standing next to her. They both looked at the monster and waited.
>>Have we finished it yet?<< asked Adriana.
Slowly she looked up at the wolf's face and waited for his reaction.
>>A good question. I don't know if we can turn our backs on this thing or not.<< he said, holding the bow firmly in his right paw.

Adriana nodded and also had her daggers firmly in hand. Both of them were prepared for when this monster should attack again.
>>We should probably retreat slowly, I think.<< Varshgar said.
>>Yes. But carefully. I don't want to be surprised from behind.<< said Adriana.
Varshgar cautiously looked behind to see what was going on, but her plan had some flaws.
>>I think we've already got the surprise part.<< Varshgar said and looked into the faces of dozens of angry lizard creatures.
