Reproduced by Ken Anderson.\u0026nbsp;\n\nSo many people walking by,  \nSo dead,\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;but still alive.  \nThey're all in a rush to  \nGet in line.  \nFamiliar faces,\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;with their smiles  \nAs blank as mine,  \nOpen eyes and empty minds...  \n  \nStuck in their patterns,\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;day and night,  \nWith no release in sight,  \nThey live and die inside their hives...  \nFrom nine to five they keep their  \nMasters satisfied;  \nWhite collared slaves with no real lives...  \n  \nAs they drown their pain in  \nBeer and wine,  \nAn Illusion of good times.  \nJust leave your hopes and dreams  \nBehind...  \n  \nCheck your emotions;  \nLeave your happy at the door.  \nDrown your depressions while you're lying on the floor.  \n  \nI see the sadness in their eyes,  \nThe truth behind their lies.  \nSee, they can't laugh,\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;  \nand i can't cry...  \n  \nThey form the pieces of the same machine,\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\n\nand I?  \n\nI'm standing by,\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;  \n  \nWatching your world through heroin eyes...\n\nWatching you world through heroin eyes...\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poetry, both old and new","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1925295-i-am-not-afraid.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1925578-something-rises-in-the-morning.json"}}
