All test subjects and personal involved in the creation of the aptly named “Reaper” were killed in what many assume was a government covering its tracks, though, there’s only rumors and here-say to back this up.\n\nThe most common rumor is that one of the sentient orderlies working the project somehow gained access and sabotaged the sample used in the initial test. To do something of this magnitude would take a great deal of knowledge and discretion. I assume this rumor persists simply for the beautiful irony of the entire thing, I wish it true if for nothing but a good story.\n\nAs far as I can find out, the virus was made by the United States in order to kill off the sentient forces of the Asiatic side. It was meant to be a show of force, seeing as how not many sentients fought on either side of the war.\n\nThis bomb was supposed to be a quick little test, a tiny footnote in the history books. It was such an insignificant test that nobody really knows the exact coordinates of where or when it even happened.\n\nAll we know for sure is the platoon of sentients it was initially launched against had no ill affects. The United States chalked the weapon up as a failure. What they didn’t realize is that they had created a platoon of carriers. The Reaper proved to be extremely mobile, jumping from host to host simply by being in the same air space. It spread through the Asiatic ranks like wildfire, killing humans off by the millions and infecting billions more. The United States was initially thrilled by these findings and was soon to declare a victory over the war. Those initial feelings quickly turned as the virus spread across the western hemisphere, devastating South America. The “Allies” tried their best to contain the spread but were too weak from the war to do much good other than slow it down. After the war had ended, many fled the radioactive east coast in search of a new home in what is now referred to as “The Great Migration”. Many humans chose Los Angeles as that rallying point while others chose Seattle.\n\nHumans who were struck by the Reaper were hard to track, seeing as the virus can kill a person off randomly. Despite how long we observe, The TOD is always random or spontaneous. Sometimes people abruptly drop dead in their tracks at the first contact or they slowly liquefy from the inside out, their bodies slowing down bit by bit until they rot away in a state of suspended animation. We assume the virus does this in order to keep a viable carrier for long periods of time, continually feeding the virus until it has time to hop to another unfortunate host.\n\nAll we know for sure is that branching research on its affects on sentients has been negative. The humans best effort to create a sentient killing weapon failed. All they managed to do is seal their own fate. We will document the deterioration of the few last humans in our possession. Hopefully, its information will prove useful to future sentient generations. Our decedents will rise from the ashes of a world void of humans and their wasteful war“\n\n  \n\n- Doctor Suri [Head Surgeon, Project lead]","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1961402-anywhere-but-here-ch-13-human-m-xmultiple-hyena-f.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1961405-anywhere-but-here-ch-15-human-m-xmultiple-hyena-f.json"}
