{"sf1_id":1962046,"sf2_id":null,"title":"(poem) Let’s Hear It for the Fox","author":"danath","words":626,"posted_at":"2023-03-07T02:23:00.000Z","tags":["Fox","Poem","Rhyme"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/1962046-poem-let-s-hear-it-for-the-fox","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/view/1962046","image_url":"https://www.sofurryfiles.com/std/thumb?page=1962046\u0026ext=.jpg","description":"Foxes get a bad rap sometimes.","content":" **Let's Hear It for the Fox**\n\nBy Danath\n\n\\* \\* \\*\n\nOf all the anthro types we know,\n\nPerhaps but one takes insults so\n\nAnd if it please the reader now\n\nExamine thus and break it down\n\nWhen hearing of this stereotype\n\nSuch savage utterance of hype:\n\n_The foxes here are just as sly_\n\n_As high the birds fly in the sky_\n\n_Their underbellies are too small_\n\n_And of their height, not too tall_\n\n_Their orange coats are always coarse_\n\n_And voices gasp with rasping hoarse_\n\n_Thus desp'rate for a solid meal_\n\n_They live their lives to cheat and steal_\n\n_All things coveted by looters_\n\n_Beware, young maids' healthy hooters!_\n\n_And not to mention how they smell_\n\n_They're of the bent brings doom and hell_\n\nIt's simply quite a load of tripe\n\nAnd those who utter it are ripe\n\nThat's ripe, not right, I say again\n\nOr rather, write here with my pen\n\nA bald-faced lie of a cursed cur\n\nA damnable trick of old Ur\n\nAppearances will start the course\n\nFor jealous hearts' lies fan the source\n\nThe fox has no unhappy mien\n\nHe's always happy to be seen\n\nHe smiles at all who pass his way\n\nForgive when he lets passes stray\n\nHe's hardly of the type to harm\n\nWith reddish fur and roguish charm\n\nA swinging tail, a clever brain\n\nCuteness causes enemy pain\n\nWhich leads us into lesson two\n\nIn which 'popufur' makes ado\n\nIs popularity so bad?\n\nIs wanting to be liked a fad?\n\nBut foxes do not come and go\n\nThey've always been the fandom though\n\nShould a species be popular\n\nOr should we be particular\n\nAnd limit who can choose to be\n\nA version of a cute foxy?\n\nEach vulpine to their own, say I\n\nFor reasons have they; I shan't pry\n\nNo more of this criticism\n\nThat breaks beneath vulpine prism\n\nRed, black, and white are not the end\n\nPossessed among the foxy friend\n\nBut brown, white, gold, and black, as well\n\nAnd why stop there when we have more?\n\nImagination lets us soar\n\nThink of foxes as of flowers\n\nA bold collection of mind powers\n\nFrom sapphire and emerald,\u0026nbsp;\n\nPink, gray, robotic assembled\n\nOr royal purple underglow\n\nWith polka dots for extra show\n\nLet's now dispense with pelt and shade\n\nThis vulpine rescue begs more aid\n\nI'll write next of, of all the choices,\n\nOf harsh ridicule of voices\n\nNot ev'ry being can be so perfect\n\nAs to have not one small defect\n\nPerhaps a fox's passioned cries\n\nUnsweetly tend the ears it fries\n\nBut let not this small, tiny thing\n\nUpon a species whole doom bring\n\nSit up straight, nigh end of session\n\nAttention now, for this question\n\nJust why are foxes criminals?\n\nThe villain of the animals?\n\nPetty thieves, such reputation\n\nKeeps foxes low in their station\n\nFantastic thefts or robbing 'hoods,\n\nFoul fellows named in motherhood?\n\nBestial epics call him trickster\n\nImplying even he'd sell a sister\n\nStrong in counsel is no sin; yet,\n\nTwisted minds fabricated threat\n\nFoxes need to live just the same\n\nThey have no ulterior aim\n\nWe come now to the close of school\n\nThe class is dismissed, go be cool\n\nBut, you ask, what about the last?\n\nThe unanswered lie I'll end fast?\n\nI think I know of what you mean\n\nAlas, the answer is not clean\n\nShould thou bewarest a vulpine gaze?\n\nAvoid the leash of lovestruck days?\n\nTender not yourself to tender?\n\nSay 'no' to love's eager sender?\n\nLook past the eyes of the foxy\n\nAnd ignore the tail so waggy?\n\nThere's truth at the core of a lie\n\nThat causes the lie to go by\n\nSo I'll end not in confusion\n\nBut instead without illusion:\n\nYeah, foxes are horny, like, 24/7, confirmed, no cap, no cap\n\n  \n  \n\n"}
