# Study Buddy: Part One

Hey Guys:&nbsp; I'm kinda new to writing and I wanted to share my first story with you.&nbsp; I have uploaded part one and part two, and I'd like to know what you think.&nbsp;

&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Crap!&nbsp; I'm late for class!"&nbsp; That's me.&nbsp; Always late.&nbsp; It was the first day of my junior year of college at Reno University.&nbsp; For some reason I still can't sleep the night before the first day.&nbsp; But I digress...

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I jump out of my bed, quickly find a nice shirt and some nice jeans to wear, and rush out the door in record time.&nbsp; As I'm leaving my room I see my roommate and best friend Adam standing in the kitchen eating some eggs.&nbsp; Adam is a tall thin red fox, and he was standing there in nothing but his boxers.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Can you eat with clothes on?" I quip to him.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Aren't you late for class, Phil?" Adam retorted.&nbsp; Too late though, I was already on my way out of the front door.&nbsp; I practically ran down the street and across campus to my first class, Calculus.&nbsp; I walk in and see a free seat near the window.&nbsp; I walk over to it and collapse into it.&nbsp; After taking a minute to catch my breath, I take a look around the room.&nbsp; As I thought, after two years into my major, most of the people in the class are people that I've already had classes with.&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Class passes by quickly, I've always been pretty good at math, and this semester seemed to be particularly easy.&nbsp; After class ends, I have to run across campus again to get to my next class.&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "This is crazy," I thought to myself.&nbsp; "Why would they have classes this far apart with only 10 minutes to get there?!"

&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I stop in the bathroom quickly.&nbsp; As I'm washing my hands, I look up and see a dark blue wolf with light blue accents and white ears in the mirror.&nbsp; I take a closer look and I see that I have bedfur still.&nbsp; I look down and see that at least the blue fur on top of my tail and the white underneath looks fine.&nbsp;

Again, I'm slightly late to my next class.&nbsp; The chalkboard in the front of the room says "COMPUTER SCIENCE 326."&nbsp; This building is so old it has a chalkboard!&nbsp; The chairs also feel like they've been here as long as the building has.&nbsp; As I try to find a comfortable way to sit, the professor walks in.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Listen up.&nbsp; This class will not be easy.&nbsp; I am not trying to scare you, in fact I'm here to help you.&nbsp; For you Computer Science majors, this is the make or break class.&nbsp; Please try to keep up.&nbsp; Before I go any farther, I want you to find a study buddy to help you through this class."

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I look to the guy to my right and see that he's already pairing up with someone so I turn to my left, and I see her.&nbsp; The most beautiful wolf in the room.&nbsp; She has light blue fur with purple highlights and white ears too.&nbsp; I start to wonder why I've never seen this girl before, but she interrupts my thoughts.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Hey wanna be my study buddy?&nbsp; I just transferred here from Las Vegas and I'm not quite used to the teaching style here," she said in her soft voice.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Sure.&nbsp; I'm Phil, what's your name?"

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Heather.&nbsp; I-"

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Okay, that's been enough time!" the professor said.&nbsp; "Time to get started on today's lesson, Data Structures..."

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Computer Science has always been my favorite class, which is a good thing since I'm a CS major, but this class was my favorite of all.&nbsp; The professor, a large white polar bear named Dr. Herald, was really nice, and made the subject material really interesting.&nbsp; We did code by hand and then walked through it with the rest of the class.&nbsp; I even got a "Good job, Phil!" from the professor.&nbsp; When it was time to leave, I was actually sad the class was ending.&nbsp; Heather and I swapped information and then left to do our own things.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I was meeting up with Adam at the university cafeteria, but I was a little early so I pulled out my computer science book and started my homework.&nbsp; I continued for a while until I was interrupted by Adam.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Hey Phil!&nbsp; You been here long?"

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Yeah, not to worry I got most of my CS homework done.&nbsp; You hungry?"&nbsp; I asked.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "When am I not?" Adam retorted.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; We went inside and got our food, paid and sat down.&nbsp; We started to tell each other about our days and then I got to the part about Heather.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Wait, did you say you finally found a girl?" Adam joked.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Haha, very funny.&nbsp; I told you, we are just study buddies.&nbsp; Actually I should get a hold of her to see if she needs help on that homework, it was pretty hard."

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "I don't get why you like CS, it's just boring.&nbsp; Now, political science, that's cool."

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Yeah, only if you never want to get a job after graduation," I quipped back.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Adam pretended to get mad and we sat for a few minutes finishing up our meal in silence.&nbsp; When we finished we got up, said goodbye and headed in separate directions.&nbsp; Adam still had one more class, but I went home.&nbsp; The whole way home I kept thinking about Heather.&nbsp; Just couldn't get her out of my mind.&nbsp; She was so beautiful.&nbsp; Her fur was a beautiful color and looked so soft...

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I shook my head.&nbsp; I shouldn't even be thinking about her that way.&nbsp; We are just study buddies and that's that.&nbsp; She probably isn't even into guys like me.&nbsp; I'm a nerd, she's probably used to being with jocks.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I get home, threw my bag onto my bed and booted up my computer.&nbsp; I want to send Heather a quick message before I start on the rest of my homework.&nbsp; I quickly let her know that I am free if she wanted to get together to talk about the homework and I was just about done with it.&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; When I finish with that, I pull out my calculus book and start that homework.&nbsp; After about an hour I finish up and then flop onto my bed to take a nap.&nbsp; I'm just about to drift off when I hear the front door open and close, so I decide to go out and make sure that Adam was okay.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Hey buddy, what's up?" I asked him.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Not much, just super ready for a break.&nbsp; Today was hell.&nbsp; My last class went over by twenty-five minutes because the professor took forever to explain everything!" Adam said.&nbsp; "I'm going to take a nap now, can you wake me in a couple hours?"

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Yeah, I will.&nbsp; Have a good nap!" I said as he walked towards his room and closed the door.&nbsp; I went back to my room and got onto my computer to see if Heather messaged me back.&nbsp; She did.&nbsp; It said "Sorry, not tonight.&nbsp; Boy issues."&nbsp; Damn.&nbsp; She had a boyfriend.&nbsp; My ears drooped and I was actually kinda sad.&nbsp; I decided to retry that nap that I failed in taking earlier to get her out of my mind.&nbsp; I climbed up onto my bed, set an alarm on my phone and passed out.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The next thing I knew, my alarm went off.&nbsp; I rolled over and turned it off.&nbsp; I didn't want to get up, but I needed to eat and wake Adam up.&nbsp; I got up, went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror.&nbsp; I realized my bedfur was even worse, so I combed out my fur until it stayed where it was supposed to.&nbsp; I then went and woke up Adam.&nbsp; He was lying on top of his covers in nothing but his boxers again.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Is it already time to wake up?"&nbsp; he said.&nbsp; "It feels like I just laid down!"

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Yeah, now wake up.&nbsp; I'll order a pizza.&nbsp; Get some clothes on before coming out here!"

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; About a half hour later the pizza shows up.&nbsp; I ordered my favorite, half pepperoni and half hawaiian.&nbsp; Adam dug right in, grabbing four pieces and putting them onto his plate and ate them by the time I had time to eat one and a half slices.&nbsp; Adam belched to announce he was done and he headed back to his room for homework.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Since I was done, I just surfed the net for a while.&nbsp; I looked over and suddenly it was midnight!&nbsp; I was about to log off my computer and head off to bed when I saw I had a new instant message.&nbsp; It was from Heather.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Heather: Hey you still up?&nbsp; I need someone to talk to.&nbsp; I know we barely know each other, but no one else is up."

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Me: Yeah, I'm here.&nbsp; What's going on?"

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Heather: It's my ex... he followed me from Vegas and tried to break into my apartment.&nbsp; I had to call the police.&nbsp; I'm just a little rattled I guess."&nbsp; So I guess she doesn't have a boyfriend.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Me: I'm sorry... Is there anything I can do?"

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Heather: Want to go get milkshakes?&nbsp; I can't sleep and it would be nice to have the company."

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Me: Of course, wanna go to that place downtown with those awful good burgers?&nbsp; I hear they have even better shakes."

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "Heather: Yeah that sounds good.&nbsp; Thanks Phil.&nbsp; You're so sweet."

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; So I headed out the door to meet with Heather.&nbsp; I would be paying for it the next day, as I was already pretty tired.&nbsp; I didn't care though, she was worth the lack of sleep.
