She wanted a poem about summer and/or identity so I combined both themes into this poem. We were both pleased by the results at the time and I know I still am at least. This is a fitting poem for Pride Month even if that's not when I originally wrote it and it's a poem I think back on from time to time. Bueno\u0026nbsp;\n\n  \n\nSummer is ending soon and with that comes the change to fall\u0026nbsp;\n\nI've changed as well over this season I don't feel like the same person at all\u0026nbsp;\n\nI look in the mirror at my face as I stroke the beard along my chin and it feels wrong\u0026nbsp;\n\nI feel like this summer has lead me to a discovery I should have realized all along\u0026nbsp;\n\nOver the hot summer days I've gone a ways to re-examining what it means to be myself\n\nThinking on it at the beach, on cooler walks at night and at bars I've explored what that means\u0026nbsp;\n\nIt's done wonders for my mental health\u0026nbsp;\n\nI've experimented with new clothes, new people and sometimes just talking to others\u0026nbsp;\n\nIt's led me to this moment now\n\nShaving my facial hair in front of this mirror and slightly trimming my brow\u0026nbsp;\n\nSimple things that I want to start to maintain as I go for a new look\u0026nbsp;\n\nStill I try to put on some eyeliner like I've seen in photo books\u0026nbsp;\n\nI'm just trying to go for a look that fits me\u0026nbsp;\n\nNow that I've broken out of the binary\u0026nbsp;\n\nMy outfit is a bit of a mismatch but I don't really mind or care\u0026nbsp;\n\nIt's meant to fit me and not into one of the gender squares\u0026nbsp;\n\nI'm done getting ready now and reflecting on who I am\u0026nbsp;\n\nI step outside into the sunlight of an early September morning\u0026nbsp;\n\nDetermined to have a good day and live life now as best as I can\u0026nbsp;   \n  \n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\n  \n  \n\n"}
