{"sf1_id":200234,"sf2_id":"rn64qN6e","title":"Nature's Sober Man","author":"Ramah","words":283,"posted_at":"2010-12-05T07:11:00.000Z","tags":["Human","Nature","Poem"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/200234-nature-s-sober-man","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/rn64qN6e","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/69/67/69670ddc-16d2-42e1-b3cc-0836da545024","description":"","content":"So in a literature class of mine, I had to read a bit of Emily Dickenson, one of the great poets during the Civil War era.\u0026nbsp; It just so happens that In lieu of a 1-pager explaining her, we could make a poem in her style instead.\u0026nbsp; This made for about an hour of fun as I got to exercise my mind's linguistic skills of the English Language.\u0026nbsp; No need to comment if you don't want to, but I like it enough to put it up for reading.\u0026nbsp; Enjoy. ^\\_^\n\n--------------------------------------------------\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nI'm much too sober for a man,\n\nMy liquor glass is dry.\n\nMy tankard stands collecting dust,\n\nAt least I'll tell you why.\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nThe springtime ale is young and sweet,\n\nIt's lure -- a ripe perfume.\n\nAlas -- its sway for me is far too weak.\n\nI guess I'll wait til June.\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nThe summer fifth is full and strong,\n\nA flavor much too quaint.\n\nI take my fill and ask for more,\n\nThen half the time I faint.\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nThe fall and I go back to beer,\n\nIts spiced, colorful brew.\n\nBut lo -- It brings back memories\n\nOf spring, It's old made new.\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nThe winter comes with snow and ice\n\nTo keep its liquor cold.\n\nI stand no more a drink or two.\n\nMy head, my hands then hold.\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nNone of Nature's liquors and beer\n\nAgree with me in time.\n\nI'll keep a bit of each on hand,\n\nMore for her sake than mine.\n\n----------------------------------------------------------\n\n\u0026nbsp;\n\nYou can use your imagination on what I was meaning with this,\u0026nbsp; though I will help you along if you would like the side-note thoughts I had while making it.\n\n  \n  \n\n"}
