Although I'm a complete amateur at writing poetry, I'd thought I'd have a go at writing lyrics for a potential song in my head. As the title implies, Coming Out is very personal to me.\nAnd publishing Coming Out today was 100% intentional, because exactly 8 years ago, the US Supreme Court ruled in Obergefell v Hodges that same-sex marriage is legal throughout the US. And I thought why not publish Coming Out on the 8th anniversary of one of the most pivotal days for the LGBTQ+ community in the US?\nSo I was listening to Epik High's Shoebox when writing Coming Out. And although Shoebox and Coming Out are quite different in terms of lyrics, I was writing Coming Out with Shoebox's beat in mind.\nAs I've mentioned, I know I'm a complete amateur at writing poetry. And I'm certain there's at least someone who thinks Coming Out is downright terrible. But I hope there's also someone who enjoys Coming Out regardless of my amateur skills.
