{"sf1_id":201765,"sf2_id":"bebgr6qm","title":"A Furry Night Before Christmas","author":"Cimmaron","words":577,"posted_at":"2010-12-11T20:24:00.000Z","tags":["Before","Christmas","Claus","Holiday","Night","Parody","Santa","furry"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/201765-a-furry-night-before-christmas","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/bebgr6qm","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/bc/ce/bcce8db5-f076-4fa8-b73d-673e511397df","description":"","content":"\u0026nbsp;\n\nA Furry Night Before Christmas\n\nBy: Cimmaron Spirit (Original By: Clement Clarke Moore)\n\nThis Christmas Season, I had the urge (as well as encouragement and goading)\n\nto rewrite this story, the classic of any Holiday posting,\n\nAnd so I present to you, in this I hope to bring good cheer\n\nYet another rewrite of a Christmas Classic this year!\n\n\\\u003c\\\u003e\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp; \\\u003c\\\u003e\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp; \\\u003c\\\u003e\n\n'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house,\n\nNot a furry was stirring, not even an Anthro Mouse;\n\nThe stockings were hung by the chimney with care,\n\nIn hopes that Santa Claus soon would be there;\n\nThe cubs were nestled all snug in their beds,\n\nWhile visions of tomorrow's toys and games danced in their heads;\n\nAnd my mate in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,\n\nHad just settled down for a long winter's catnap,\n\nWhen out on the lawn there arose such a racket,\n\nI pounced from the bed to see what was going on in our hamlet.\n\nAway to the window I deftly sprinted towards,\n\nTo open the blinds and see the commotion outdoors.\n\nThe moon on the breast of the new fallen snow\n\nGave the luster of mid-day to objects below,\n\nWhen, out of the corner of my eyes should appear,\n\nBut a red and gold sleigh, pulled by eight flying feral reindeer!\n\nWith a little old driver, so lively and quick,\n\nI knew in instantly it must be Saint Nick.\n\nQuicker than eagles and birds his team flew\n\nAs he urged them on by name with whistles and shouts too.\n\n\"Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!\n\nOn, Comet! on Cupid! on, Donder and Blitzen!\n\nTo the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!\n\nNow dash away! dash away! dash away all!\"\n\nI watched in amazement as they all did rapidly fly,\n\nNothing could stop them, up there in the sky.\n\nBefore long, they arrived at the destination,\n\nOn our house top no less, much to my silent ovation.\n\nLittle thuds of each little hoof echoed like water dripping in a basin\n\nAnd downstairs to see to be sure did I hasten!\n\nI arrived to see Nicholas come down the chimney with a bound\n\nAnd I did see the old man in front of me, quite round,\n\nDressed in red and white fur from head to foot,\n\nThough they were blackened by the ashes and soot.\n\nA large bag, full of presents for good cubs, no doubt,\n\nDid he then open, and start to pull out.\n\nAs he did so, his eyes did twinkle with joy;\n\nHe laughed merrily as he laid out toy after toy,\n\nHis face, red from the cold, gave him a festive and happy air;\n\nAnd he stroked his white beard, soft like that of a snowshoe hare.\n\nDoing his annual, one night work, this happy elf,\n\nMade me chuckle and grin, despite myself.\n\nHis ears did pick up my good humor,\n\nBut he turned and winked, the jolly old trooper,\n\nAnd he turned back to finish his work.\n\nWhen the stockings were full, the turned with a jerk,\n\nAnd resting a paw on the side of muzzle,\n\nHe rose up with a nod, with nary a rustle.\n\nSanta leaped into his sleigh, and with a whistle,\n\nHis team did fly off into the night like a missile.\n\nBut I heard him call, as he drove out of sight:\n\nMerry Christmas to All, and to All a Good Night!\n\n  \n  \n\n"}
