In this world, digimon have become relatively commonplace, many partnering with humans by choice, rather than just the select few chosen to fulfil a great destiny.","content":"It took around ten minutes to walk to the battle area. The pair meandered along the path through the park until the trees began to thin out into a clearing. As they wandered closer, the sounds of a large crowd cheering could be heard.\n\n  \n\n“Uh, definitely sounds like someone's having a battle.\"\n\n  \n\n“What are they cheering for, Tamer?\"\n\n  \n\n“I guess they're enjoying the show. It must be a pretty intense battle.\"\n\n  \n\nAs they got closer, a group of people could be seen, presumably gathered around two digimon battling.\n\n  \n\nAs the crowd shuffled back and forth, the tamer caught a glimpse of one of the digimon.\n\n  \n\n\"Oh, shiiit. Someone challenged GulusGammamon.\"\n\n  \n\n\"You know that Digimon, Tamer?\"\n\n  \n\n\"Uh, not personally, but around here everyone has heard of that guy. It's actually pretty rare to see him fight, though. Most people know how strong he is and don't bother. Tamer's a real brat of a kid too. I really don't know how he ended up with such a powerful Digimon.\"\n\n  \n\nIn the clearing, said digimon was straddling a badly-injured Flamedramon and beating it to a pulp on the ground. It seemed the crowd was in the mood for blood today, cheering on the gruesome spectacle.\n\n  \n\nThe tamer realised this would probably be the last thing Ren would want to see.\n\n  \n\n\"Um… maybe today isn't a good day to watch battles. We should go.\"\n\n  \n\nHe looked over and noticed Ren staring wide-eyed at what was happening.\n\n  \n\nHe grabbed the Digimon by the wrist and tried to pull him away.\n\n  \n\n\"...C'mon Ren, let's go.\"\n\n  \n\nDespite his calls, Ren's eyes remained fixated on the fight. The tamer had to grab the digimon's face and physically pull his gaze away from the fight.\n\n  \n\n\"REN! Hey, look at me.\"\n\n  \n\nRen finally focussed back on his tamer.\n\n  \n\n\"Tamer… they are…\"\n\n  \n\n\"I know, Ren. It's bad. Come on, we're getting out of here.\"\n\n  \n\nHe grabbed the Digimon by the wrist and pulled again. This time Ren followed.\n\n  \n\nAs they were walking away, a voice called out from behind.\n\n  \n\n\"Oi, chicken shit. You scared of a little fight?\"\n\n  \n\n\"Huh?\"\n\n  \n\nThe tamer turned to find a barely-teenage boy standing there with a cocky look on his face.\n\n  \n\n\"You scared of my digimon, huh?\"\n\n  \n\nIt took a moment, but the tamer recognised this boy as the GulusGammamon's tamer.\n\n  \n\n\"You… kid, your Digimon is a monster and I don't want anything to do with either of you.\"\n\n  \n\n\"Pfft. You're just scared. A scared little tamer and your scrawny little pet.\"\n\n  \n\nRen stepped forward and levelled one of his fierce stares at the kid who was insulting his tamer.\n\n  \n\n\"You will not insult my tamer.\"\n\n  \n\nThe tamer had to give the kid credit. Despite the look Ren was giving him, he didn't back down.\u0026nbsp;\n\n  \n\n\"Oh, yeah? Why don't you make me, PET! Fight Gulus. Bet you won't do it.\"\n\n  \n\n\"Pretty brave for a kid… or maybe he's just got rocks in his head…\"\n\n  \n\nRen's fists were clenched tight and the tamer almost thought his digimon was going to take a swing at the kid. Part of him would've loved to see that, but the other, more sensible part knew that was just asking for trouble. Luckily, it seemed Ren knew better, remaining silent.\n\n  \n\nThe tamer took the opportunity to try and defuse the situation.\n\n  \n\n\"Yeah, no thanks kid. Not interested.\"\n\n  \n\nRen turned to his tamer with the fierce look still in his eyes.\n\n  \n\n\"Tamer, I am ready to fight for you.\"\n\n  \n\n\"No Ren, not today.\"\n\n  \n\nThe kid called out again.\n\n  \n\n\"What's wrong, chicken man? Your pet wants to fight.\"\n\n  \n\n\"Look kid, I said no, alright?\"\n\n  \n\n\"Pfft, whatever, loser.\"\n\n  \n\nHe saw Ren was about to interject again, so he grabbed the digimon by the wrist.\n\n  \n\n\"Let's go, Ren.\"\n\n  \n\n\"But-\"\n\n  \n\nRen tried to object but the tamer just shook his head and gave the digimon a stern look.\n\n  \n\n\"...yes, Tamer.\"","series":{"name":"Digimundanity","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/2031028-walkies-and-talkies.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/2032351-existential-crisis.json"}}
