# Will, Persistence, Patience, and Love (a poem)

Met another poet the other day, had a wonderful exchange with them on their words. Just a reminder of how vast this world is and that all content has a place and audience. I urge you, try and make some for yourself. I believe everyone can create, but beware, there are some pitfalls.
There's four things you'll need Will, Persistence, Patience, and Love to create. And past that, the opportunities are limitless!
Go Forth and Make!

As you walk this Earth, you will ask for something more  
Something real, something fake, something artistic to explore.  
  
    Some skill for which you can say wholeheartedly is your own  
Some talent, some niche, some activity to hone.  
  
    But beware, my Friend, your heart set and spirit sure  
There's more to creating, so listen, I implore.  
  
For any act or path you pursue with your life  
It's important to remember these four when life becomes strife.  
  
    Will, you were born with, at the dawn of your day  
Will, it will leave you, you cannot take it to the grave.  
  
    Will, it will urge you, and run through your brain  
Will, it will start you, pump blood through your vein.  
  
    But will, it runs free not unlike a wild horse  
Will, it will not sustain you after it has run its course.  
  
    So look to the next skill in the line  
It, frankly, is a personal favorite of mine.  
  
    To persevere, to persist, to resist the urge to resist  
To shut out will's calls and focus on what you want to exist.  
      
    To stand in waves of life's chaotic shores  
To stand in defiance of what shocks you to your cores.  
  

     To stand up to challenges, great and small  
To stand up to distractions and beat them all.  
  
    To start and continue is to bare your artist soul  
To lead to another skill for when your art turns too dull  
  
    Patience, I'll admit, is something I need to work on  
Keeping faith, to wit, when joy does not spawn  
  
    Cause all things take time though I wish that weren't true  
And trust me when I say, it will happen to you.  
  
    Burnout and stress will cut your art to shreds  
And your brain will resist pulling at those threads  
  
    But through patience, I've learned and I hope you do too  
Creativity is a flower, and it will bloom anew.  
  
    And at last we reach to the most important of them all  
The one that is fundamental, is paramount, and always standing tall  
  
Cause without Love all art is void of life  
And lifeless art has no joy it can provide  
  
    Love burns, Love sears, Love makes you itch  
And Love, I'll be honest, sometimes makes you a bitch  
  
    But Love, I Love, it makes me feel alive  
And Love I know is always buried inside.  
  

     So let your passions burn, let your soul take flight  
Life is too short to not make it bright.  
  
    To will, to persist, to wait, and to love  
To try something new, and fly like a dove.  
  
    To get up everyday with a smile on your face  
To work through your job and never lose faith.  
  
    For happiness, it's right there for everyone to take  
We all have hands, minds, a heart with which  
  
    We Make!!
