Beyond a basic attraction

I found an unwanted reaction

A simple tear moved me more than it should

On my minds edge, I responded like someone careless would

Your smile broke my heart

I didn’t believe it, from the very start

The lies were so simple to tell that you said

I know, sadly, it wasn’t all in my head

Like water, I could clearly picture the real you, unmistakably

Like a single gravestone in a cemetery 

You lied, to strangers, family, friends, any nearby

You were a pro, you didn’t even have to try

Such a sickly talent for one so broken

Many things were said, but never any truth spoken 

Surrounded by mirrors, they don’t all show the same thing

To someone quiet, it’s quite frustrating
