# Lion of an Alternate Path

This was a poem meant for World Lion Day… which was actually yesterday at the time I posted it but I posted it that day anyway. Title says it all really and there’s also an art piece to kind of go with this that I posted(linked below). Originally posted in August 2022.

Lion of an Alternate Path

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;By: A.X. I should have known you were still out there somewhere&nbsp;

The lion of a different path&nbsp;

I guess seeing you again was something of which I should have expected more

After all I could have been you even if I don't think that's possible anymore&nbsp;

And that's not a bad thing, you just happen to no longer be me&nbsp;

Life just took me in a different direction but it's good you're out there somewhere being free&nbsp;

Being you helped me along the way to where I am now&nbsp;

You were fearsome, you were powerful, you were confident and strong&nbsp;

But I've found my own new ways to be those things and more when needed&nbsp;

Still I'm glad you've got your own life somewhere out there&nbsp;

You were once a part of me after all who helped me a lot and I still care

Still it shocked me when I saw you again&nbsp;

I didn't expect that or how quickly our encounter would suddenly end&nbsp;

Somehow though I think I'll manage to find and see you again&nbsp;

Whenever that may be I hope you're doing better than you were before you split from me&nbsp;

Balancing yourself out better to hide less behind a facade and surviving more easily &nbsp;&nbsp;
