revision #1

//still-life//

put myself together every morning
see the dust motes floating
shedding my years away
how long can my body hold this shape
retained under so much pressure
under air so heavy
every breath's an exertion
move
do my little routines
passing time
move through life
and pretend I still have places to be
_(god)_ please put me back in the box gently
when you're done playing with me

first draft //lifeless//

do you have to put yourself together every morning
see the dust motes floating
shedding my years away
how long can my body hold this shape
retained from being under the pressure of everything around it
under still air
do my little routines
passing time
move through the world of the living
and pretend i still have places to be
please put me back in the box gently
when you're done playing with me
